YMMV / Mumkey Jones

  • The Chris Carter Effect: In the Insufferable Social Media Argument Podcast, Mumkey and Digi got a voicemail from a man claiming to be Nolan North's brother, Nolan South. Random callers from that point on would claim to be the other Nolans, creating a ever more convoluted story. Mumkey and Digi quickly got sick of the ever more complicated story line. Eventually, Digi took matters into his own hands and killed every Nolan himself.
  • Cry for the Devil: Mumkey believes a little bit of sympathy, even for horrible people like Eliot Roger, can help us understand them and ourselves.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • In his "Love Survival Guide" video, Mumkey makes a joke about guys shooting up their campus instead of confessing to girls, along with Jumkey declaring himself to be going on a rampage to get revenge on the world out of being rejected by Jane Goodall, with Mumkey jokingly asking if they're going to have to do a "School Shooting Survival Guide" next. Not even three hours after the video was posted, the infamous Parkland school shooting occurred, with Mumkey's interview with one of the survivors even suggesting that Cruz had harassed girls in the past.
    • All the jokes about Assburger's alcoholism and constant failures become far darker in hindsight with the news that he'd been arrested for attacking his girlfriend in a drunken rage.
  • Jerkass Woobie: To put it lightly, Mumkey is....well...a huge ass. He's also a depressed maniac with few friends, suicidal tendencies, and a history of being molested and abused by his Uncle Alex.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • One of the contestants in Mumkey's Short Film Contest died of suicide in the forest shortly after submitting his short film. After declaring the winner of the contest, Mumkey takes the time to mourn for the boy, noting how while he didn't win, his script showed he was immensely talented and had great potential. Even sadder was that reading his obituaries reminded Mumkey of himself, with Mumkey saying that if he knew the boy personally, they could've been good friends.
    • Mumkey's Depression Anime review is a sincere and heartfelt episode about the Pit Of Despair and Mumkey's real life thoughts on depression and suicide.
