- Awesome Music:
- The menu uses the OP from Higurashi: When They Cry. Perfect way of getting you psyched and ready to kill people.
- When the server switches to the appropriately named Death Note mode, it plays the theme from... well, what else? Perfect for psyching you up to do some detective work. (Or to avoid being killed by psychos, as the case may be...)
- Not to mention the theme that plays when Ramiel attacks. Comes out of nowhere and frightens the life out of you. Perfect for hunting down a weird killer bug thing.
- And then there's the admin verb that lets them play pretty much any music on their computer. BiGGiE, one particular Admin, has a folder specifically for Crowning Music of Awesome, including the opening themes to pretty much any TV show from the 90's and several from the 80's.
- Fan Nickname:
- Green-Haired Boy is commonly known as "Cabbage-kun", and Green girl is "Lettuce".
- The two different hairstyles for Black-Haired Girl is why she has two different nicknames: Hairwings and Hairspider.
- The two characters with goggles, The Boy with Goggles and the Girl with Goggles, are oftentimes named Google or Go-Go.
- Game-Breaker: In older versions, combining a wooden weapon with a knife was a dominant strategy. Due to the way the game calculates unconsciousness (when your energy value reaches zero), it's very easy to knock someone out with a nonlethal weapon in a straight-out fight, as swinging a weapon around depletes your energy. Then, when they're out cold, knifey-knifey. A Nerf bat was eventually taken to wooden weapons, making them break and giving some actual risk to this strategy.
- It's Popular, Now It Sucks!: A common lament. Unlike most examples, the large number of newbies really do decrease the quality of the game. A decent host will ban those who refuse to learn.
- Memetic Mutation: \*does the Ramiel Dance*
- Whenever it's lagging, the host is downloading porn.
- GRAMMAR PUNCH!!!
- Pink Boy and Black Girl
- Since Pyrce added Black Girl, there have been two jokes about her hair, Hairwings (based on the first style being ridiculously long pigtails, which is also based on the hairstyle of Celestia from Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc) and Hairspider (based on the second style being six French braids that resemble spider legs)
- Narm: Bad roleplayers can often be a good source of this and make the whole round So Bad, It's Good, especially if they are playing Pyrce and give their character a far too silly name for the context.
- Nightmare Fuel:
- Death Note mode can be incredibly scary if Kira is a Chessmaster.
- The entire premise of the game is that you're trapped in a school with a killer; the whole THING is Nightmare Fuel. Special mention goes to any time you're sneaking around, trying to find a weapon to defend yourself with, and suddenly you hear the (very loud) axe hitting a locked door...
- Ramiel's music. Damn... Ramiel is sheer unadulterated scary.
- Any game mode where you're playing with someone who's a good RPer and good at being scary. Some players have been known to induce literal pants-wetting in others at times.
- There is an amazingly tight knot in your chest...
- How about the SLAM noise when someone dies? Say, when you're holding that scared, cute girl in your arms to give her warmth and whispering encouraging words in her ears and then SLAM!!
- "Kay, so, why'd you wanna talk to me? ...Why are you locking the door? ...What's with the taser? What are you doi—AGGAGGAGGAGGH!!!"
- Paranoia Fuel: If you are strung out on sugar and caffeine and end up as Kira/the Killer, paranoia is practically your middle name— unless you're a cold, cold bastard.
- "Hey, what's your name?" (even though the characters don't know about the Death Note.)
- "Stop Having Fun" Guy - In any server you join, there will be a very small group of these people, unless you have the unfortunate luck of joining a server where every single person is one. If they don't recognize you they will watch everything you do vigilantly, and look for reasons to cast you out of the game immediately. Although, not everyone trying to kick bad players out of a game is one of these, because sometimes it's needed.
