YMMV / Mineirinho Ultra Adventures

Go To

  • Event-Obscuring Camera: The camera is angled 30 degrees left from where Mineirinho is actually facing, making it hard to line up jumps properly, see where you jump, and where enemies are.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: At least a year after the game was released on Steam, Mineirinho became a very popular game in South Korean streams and speedrun attempts.
  • Good Bad Bugs: In Mineirinho 2, you can still toss your hat and shoot the bubblegum Grappling-Hook Pistol while the game is paused. The latter allows you to accumulate speed if you hit a target over and over, leading to Mineirinho blasting into the sky once the game is unpaused. This, naturally, is used to skip most of the levels.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: Both the main game and the DLC are very short and mask this by being Nintendo Hard.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Mineirinho calling out the names of each powerup.
      "PIZZA MALUCA!"
    • Super Mario Odyssey's release and this game's rerelease were both in the same year: 2017. Cue jokes that Nintendo actually stole the boomeranging hat idea from this game.
  • Narm: The DLC takes a stand against the political woes of Huehuehueland by... displaying a collection of satires, charges and memes after every level. It's bad enough that Brazilian players themselves find it very stupid, but foreign players won't even be able to make sense of it.
  • No Such Thing as Bad Publicity: Everyone knows Mineirinho is a crappy game, but all that did was make a previously forgotten game Vindicated by History as an amusing kusoge. Dennis even got interviewed on tv about the game's development.
  • Obvious Beta: The development of the game started circa 2010. As seen in this 2011 video, the "beta" version shown at a Blender conference is almost identical to the 2017 Steam release. Now compare this presentation with the trailer shown at Steam Greenlight.
    • The so-called Director's Cut adds a cooperative split screen multiplayer mode. If player 2 dies, the level either resets or nothing happens.
  • Older Than They Think: Despite Mineirinho Ultra Adventures being released through Steam on early 2017 and being infamous in the same year, most people didn't know it was originally released in 2010 for a Blender competition and had 5000 copies for sale. At least it's what this article said, besides this article (...or this presentation) there's no other known article or footage about this game before 2016.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: The game was first released on around 2010 and actually won Blender competitions back then, but most people found out about it in 2017 either via word-of-mouth about how bad it was or thanks to the news that the creator had harshly bashed some costumers who had criticized him. He later claimed it was his ex-girlfriend posing as him, and to be fair, a lot of the insults in those tirades were nearly as incomprehensibly nonsensical as the game itself.
  • The Problem with Licensed Games: Oh, the game is supposed to be an advert for a restaurant chain, isn't it? Except it doesn't do a good job about that and plays horribly in nearly every way.
  • Sequelitis: The original game is an old work from the author that can be said to have heart to it, but the sequels barely get any better gameplay specifically to target an ironic "so bad it's good" reaction.
  • So Bad, It's Good: For some, Mineirinho is DEFINITELY this. Oh, it's bad, but unlike some terrible games it's at least playable, and the complete lack of quality or polish coupled with how simply bizarre it is can make it very entertaining.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Each of Dennis' games have a picture of him on the credits screen and people found it amusing. Then he went and removed it from the so-called Director's Cut.
  • Took The Bad Game Seriously: Serious enough to create two sequels in the same quality, re-releasing the game in a "Director's Cut" version and calling himself a "native game programmer" in a TV interview.
