  • Crack Pairing: After MCC16, there was a massive uptick in fan works shipping Wilbur Soot with Ace Race. Yes, as in the gamemode Ace Race.
  • Fan Nickname: Fans and contestants have, over time, accrued a series of nicknames for various aspects of the tournament.
    • MCC itself is often referred to as the "gay Superbowl", due to its popularity in the fandom being akin to the Superbowl for Americans, combined with its large LGBT Fanbase. It's also sometimes called the "gay Olympics" for the same reason but more international.
    • A "sweep" is when a team wins Dodgebolt without the other team scoring a single point. A "reverse sweep" is when Dodgebolt starts with one team winning two rounds, followed by the other team pulling back up and winning the tournament 3-2.
    • Finishing first place in all 3 rounds of Hole in the Wall is called a "3Pete", named after contestant PeteZahHutt.
    • Pulling off a specific glitch in Rocket Spleef is referred to as "Wilburing" or "Wilbur Glitching", named after contestant Wilbur Soot.
    • The term "Captain's Curse" refers to how often CaptainSparklez's teams have ended in third place, narrowly missing out on the Dodgebolt finale.note  Often paired with it is a secondary curse where at least one player on his team ends up winning the next MCC, which had happened regularly since MCC10.note  It took until MCC22 for the "Captain's Curse" to finally be broken and for Sparklez to win an MCC of his own.
    • The MCC31 Red Rabbits team has been dubbed "los Conejos Rojos" by viewers as all four of players on the team (Jojo, Shadoune, OllieGamerz, and CapitánGato) can speak Spanish, and play through the event in the language. It can even be seen chanted in the livestream chats of the event.
  • Game-Breaking Bug:
    • MCC7 had the first case of a game (Battle Box) being reset and replayed due to both heavy lag and friendly fire during the break time between rounds (people discovered they could place TNT in the waiting area and blow up their teammates).
    • MCC13 is infamous for being the tournament with easily the most glitches. It even got to the point where the entire server crashed halfway through the event.Explanation
    • MCC19 mostly went off glitch-free... until Dodgebolt, where people found that a large chunk of the floor in the stands was missing. Several people fell into the void and had to be teleported out, while the hole was quickly covered up with a slab of plain stone.
    • Due to the simultaneous launch of MCC Island putting excess strain on the Noxcrew's servers, MCC24 was absolutely marred by server connectivity issues. The event had to be paused practically every game due to someone disconnecting, there were massive lag spikes, and Ace Race had to be replayed because a quarter of contestants got kicked during the race.
    • During MCC28, the MCC server went down twice between games, kicking participants and admins alike, for no particular reason.
  • Good Bad Bugs: The Wilbur-glitch (named after Wilbur Soot, who discovered it), a bug in Rocket Spleef that allows the player to stay floating forever and cling to the side of blocks.Explanation It's insanely useful, as it allows players to fly easier and hold onto blocks without getting knocked off.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • In the middle of Hole in the Wall in MCC14, Wilbur and Quackity greeted and essentially cooed over each other in the same high-pitched voice, despite being on different teams and thus different VCs. They continue to do this in later MCCs and even when they met up in real life.
    • The day before MCC16, Technoblade announced he was diagnosed with cancer. During the actual event, almost every participant wore a lavender ribbon (a symbol for cancer awareness and research) somewhere on their skin, and multiple contestants and even some of the organizers agreed to donate money to a cancer research charity.note
    • During MCC20, new participant GoodTimesWithScar discovered that his cat, Jellie, was displayed on the individual score podium with his own character. Jellie was added to Minecraft in 2018, when Scar won a Mojang-run contest to have his cat added to the game, but he was completely blindsided by the fact that the Noxcrew gave him his very own Jellie, and reacted by grabbing the real Jellie and excitedly pointing out her in-game counterpart.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: As acknowledged by the man himself, a lot of people tend to hop onto Wilbur Soot's livestream during MCC just to see whatever monologue and/or parody song he comes up with during Ace Race.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Quig. Explanation
    • Weird Dunk. Explanation
    • "WHY has GRIAN, who in my opinion is not great at PVP, killed me at least 8 times in PVP games, yet I have NEVER finished ahead of him in Build Mart. It is disproportionate to the rest of the games statistically. So, shut up, Punz." Explanation
  • Memetic Badass:
    • In MCC 9, Grian went on a rampage and killed 3/4th's of Lime Llamas, including Dream. Grian along with his team after the event received their Lordships, in which Grian earned the title of "Lord Grian Dreamslayer". Safe to say, the fans are head over heels for this Lordship title. He also pulled off a 1v3 in the fifth and final round of Dodgebolt in MCC 17, the second player to do so after Smallishbeans in MCC 8.
    • ConnorEatsPants is regarded as the best player in the event by an astronomical margin despite being one of the weaker players statistically.
    • Due to occasional jokes that MCC is canon to the roleplay, fans of the Dream SMP have depicted Scott Smajor as a god who's able to bring people back from the dead, force arch-enemies to work together, and (during the period he was in Pandora's Vault) break character-Dream out of prison multiple times in order to force them to participate in the games.
  • Memetic Loser:
    • Poor, poor Captain Sparklez... Despite appearing in every main MCC, he had yet to win a single one, and had a bad habit of narrowly missing out on the final game of Dodgebolt. Even worse, whoever he's teamed with almost always ended up winning the next MCC, to the point that Sparklez had referred to it as a curse. And when the streak of constantly getting third place was finally broken in MCC15, his team lost Dodgebolt to the Red Rabbits in a complete 3-0 sweep. And as it turns out, the curse still technically wasn't broken — Seapeekay, who was on Sparklez's team for MCC15, proceeded to win MCC16. The curse was finally broken in MCC22, which saw his team make it to Dodgebolt and beat the Red Rabbits in a close match.
    • Ranboo was also considered by many to be the successor of the "Captain's Curse", due to placing 3rd a whopping 6 times and 4th 3 more times, as well as losing against Aqua Axolotls in MCC29's Dodgebolt. MCC32 saw this curse get broken as well, with Ranboo's team making it to Dodgebolt and winning in a close match. Coincidentally, Ranboo also happened to be on Red Rabbits, the very same colored team that Captain Sparklez won against 10 games ago.
    • Prior to the aforementioned MCC15, the Red Rabbits were the one of the colors not to win a single MCC, and the only color to not make it to the finals. Fortunately for them, the streak was finally broken when the MCC15 Red Rabbits (Dream, Sapnap, Michaelmcchill, and Quackity) took first place in both points and Dodgebolt.
    • The Lime Llamas. The team color that has been on a longer win drought than the Red Rabbits, losing any time it was in Dodgebolt in Season 1, and then proceeding to be unable to place top 2 in any Season 2 event, both canon and non-canon alike. This curse would technically be broken in MCCAF, before being officially recognized as broken by the MCC Twitter in MCCR2.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap:
    • Ace Race is the revamped version of Foot Race, which was one of the most frustrating and least enjoyable MCC games. However, since its new iteration, packed with tridents, Elytras, and fast-paced movement, the game's quality has massively improved, although many continue to dislike it thanks to some persistent glitches.
    • Parkour Warrior was a game that was incredibly unfun for those who weren't good at it, as players would get stuck in one section of the course and not make progress. Its replacement, Parkour Tag, was far more fast-paced and incorporated more strategy and teamwork, making it more fun for players who were bad at it.
    • Skyblockle was a game that was very slow, with islands spaced so far apart that actual combat wouldn't happen until several minutes into the game. The one round format meant that even a single mistake was costly as well, increasing stress and making gameplay even slower. The successor, Sky Battle, is a fast-paced game that is loved by the PVP enthusiasts in the event.
  • Shocking Moments: Doubling as a Funny Moment, we have the Captain's Precision F-Strike in MCC19. The other participants (and especially Michael Mcchill) and the in-game chat understandably freaked out when they heard it.
  • Spiritual Successor: To Noxcrew Gameshow. Some elements, such as the Decision Dome, Sands of Time and Dodgebolt are carried over from MCC's predecessor. Even the soundtrack features similar motifs; "One Minute to MCC!" and "Decision Dome" form a two-part direct remake of "Main Theme (From "Noxcrew Gameshow")".
