YMMV / Marvel Universe vs. the Punisher

Go To

  • Alternate Character Interpretation:
    • Frank is apparently immune to the virus due to receiving a super dose of the stuff when he accidentally let it enter New York's water supply. However, considering the similar themes of Vs. The Punisher, one can't help but wonder if Frank is infected but his already present Blood Knight tendencies made any distinction between him and the other cannibals moot.
    • The version of Hawkeye in this series is a bizarre blend of his Ultimate self, his movie self, and his 616 self. He's got the latter's outfit and gimmicks and he's an Avenger, but his narration indicates he does black-bag jobs for Nick Fury which would be wildly uncharacteristic of him in 616. Him being a Composite Character wouldn't be unexpected however, since this is an alternate universe version of him.
  • Character Rerailment: After Marvel Zombies had Reed lose his mind during the zombie apocalypse and decide to become one himself by deliberately infecting himself, the Reed of this story held true to himself and his character despite the tragedies, pushing forward and keeping hopeful and optimistic that science can save the day, as the end of Wolverine implies it has a strong chance of doing.
  • Take That, Scrappy!: Among fans who were tired of her joke Memetic Badass status, it was quite refreshing to realism finally catch up to Squirrel Girl as she's unceremoniously killed by Luke Cage.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Hawkeye killing the infected Mockingbird, then holding her in his arms. His internal monologue heavily implies that he's still in love with her.
    • When Captain America becomes infected, Frank is forced to put him down before he goes feral. Before he pulls the trigger, he lets Cap know that he's his hero.
    • Sue Storm having to kill her own children.
