YMMV / Mario and The Wah-Pocalypse

• Funny Moments:
  • Just the fact that "The Reason You Suck" Speech from Wario to Bob in Chapter 19 is that long, followed by a retaliation by him doing what he does best
  • Some of the antics Wario gets into in his search for Waluigi are pretty funny... though the owl he rudely interrupted, the salesman he stole from, and a certain axolotl whose house he broke into probably won't agree.
• Heartwarming Moments: Fans who liked the original arc for bringing out the best in Mario in regards to his interactions with Luigi will be pleased to know that this fic's adaptation of it focuses on his Big Brother Instinct just as much. One new moment includes Chapter 34 opening with some nice dialogue between the two brothers that wasn't present in "Mario The Scam Artist", and after it's over, we get this line from Mario in his thoughts, also not in "Mario The Scam Artist".
  Mario: (thinking) Everything I do, giving Luigi so much stress, Mario’s got to take it easy with the pranks if I want to be with my bro more often... Not to mention, he takes care of me too.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • Chapter 3 adapts the scene from "Mario And The T-Pose Virus" where Meggy is turned into a T-Pose Zombie. But unlike the original, where the event is offscreen, the turning is described in full detail, and it's not pretty.
  • Waluigi spying on the SMG4 Gang in scenes that didn't originally feature him can come across as creepy even before he unleashes the Power of Rejection. Chapter 9 is even dedicated to showing how far his spying goes. That's not even getting into the people he kidnaps and/or manipulates to expand his army of T-Pose Zombies.
• Paranoia Fuel: As if the implications of Waluigi lurking in the shadows watching the antics of the SMG4 Gang from anywhere wasn't bad enough in the original, thanks to Adaptation Expansion, more scenes have been added with this possibility in mind.
• Tear Jerker:
  • If you thought Luigi's Heroic Sacrifice^note except not really in "Mario SAW" was sad, Chapter 14 adds an extra detail in the narration of Mario regretting all the times he mistreated his brother throughout the SMG4 series prior to this moment.
  • One new scene adapted from "Waluigi's Time" is SMG3 basically rubbing Waluigi's rejection in his face. Even if he was the main Big Bad of the series back then, that was just uncalled for.
• Unexpected Character: Some of the characters Waluigi "recruits", such as Francis and the YouTube CEO^note the author refuses to use her real name to coordinate with FanFiction's policy against real people being included in stories, were quite a surprise treat. The author seems to realize this, as he says "you never saw that coming" in the DeviantArt description for the chapter depicting the appearance of the latter appearance.
• Woolseyism: SMG3's mocking of Waluigi in his Adaptational Early Appearance, while cruel, gives him more of a role than he had in the original arc; a contributor to the conflict of Waluigi snapping. It also pre-emptively lets readers who watched the arc know that helping Wario and Waluigi make up will be, in a way, his act of contrition.
