YMMV / Majestic Prince

Go To

  • Cult Classic: 4chan considers it one because even though the anime doesn't bring much new to the table, it does things well. And the entire main cast is considered incredibly cute (yes, even Ange and Ange's own psychosis) for having great chemistry together.
  • Fan Nickname: "Lacus" for Theoria, since the series has the same character designer as SEED, and she appears to fill the same role.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: After the reveal that Asagi was created using Commander Simon's DNA, it puts the scene where Commander Simon offers Asagi a way off the frontline in a new light. The Commander was just trying to keep his son safe!
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The Betterman Shout-Out in episode 12 becomes this with Majestic Prince's addition in Super Robot Wars 30, which just so happens to include King of Kings: GaoGaiGar vs. Betterman.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: The balls out awesome mech fights are the sole reason some people watch the show.
  • Moe: Tamaki, especially with all the expressions she displays.
  • One True Pairing: Fans are overwhelmingly supporting Izuru/Kei.
  • The Scrappy:
    • Tamaki did not meet the audience's approval at first, due to being seen as too silly and unintelligent.
    • An even bigger example would be Captain Komine, for being a vain, incompetent Jerkass who does nothing but blunder all the time and berate his underlings whenever something goes wrong.
  • Slow-Paced Beginning: Watching Team Rabbits constantly bumbling and have to be bailed out is grating, but when they finally show some competence (about halfway of the initial cour), the audience will remember that they are watching a glorious Mecha anime with larger-than-life characters.
  • Squick: Patrick's feelings for Tamaki can seem a lot less cute when you remember that he's a 22 year-old crushing on a girl who's 15.
  • Tear Jerker: The credits of episode 19. Three points of light flying through space. At the end, two of them fly off, leaving the last one alone.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Team Fawn are introduced in episode 25, primarily to promote the then upcoming movie, and what does their involvement in said movie entail? Them nearly getting killed by waves of mooks and being mocked by the Big Bad to show how strong she is in comparison. They don't even get a single scene together with Team Rabbits!
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: While the character animations frequently go Off-Model (which is Justified since this is a comedy series), the CG animation for the mechs and the battles are nothing short of jaw-droppingly beautiful to watch.
