YMMV / Lost in Random

Go To

  • Funny Moments:
    • Despite the dark world within Lost in Random, there are a good many funny moments within it that brighten the mood a little.
    • During her visit to Two-Town when trying to see the Mayor about getting Seemore's eyes back, the first response from him is pretty humorous.
"You're trying to BLIND your MISTER with your SWOLLEN THIGHS?"
  • Heartwarming Moments: Despite the dark world within the game, there have been many heartwarming moments.
    • The fact that Even and Dicey have avoided the Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure, or why Dicey never once abandoned Even, definitely proves that their friendship is stronger than any known bond throughout Random, and the best part is that it got them through Random and all the way to Sixtopia to save Odd.
    • Death’s pep talk to Even, complete with a birthday gift of Dicey's final pip.
    • After Odd breaks free from the Queen's control, she and her sister Even have a well deserved reunion after a whole year.
  • Nightmare Fuel: There have been more dark moments within Lost in Random than one might assume.
    • Royam, the evil side of the Mayor of Two-Town.
    • The Reveal of the Bag Brothers and the fates of their passengers.
    • Inside the Dark Dicemension, having reached Sixtopia, Even and Dicey discover that children that become sixers, instead of living in the Queen's palace and having their dreams come true, are taken into the Dark Dicemension where The Dark Lords reside and feed off their nightmares, all that gives the Queen the power to control Random.
  • Tear Jerker: When it comes to Even's story to find her sister, there are always sad moments along the way.
    • The day that Odd was taken from her home of Onecroft after she seemingly rolled a six on the Queen's One True Dice. As if her own parents were sad enough, the way Odd was snatched by Nanny Fortuna before she had a chance to hug Even definitely relates to losing a loved one or having someone taken away.
    • In Threedom, Even and Dicey come across a girl who had been separated from her sisters, thus prompting the duo to find each sister and reunite them...but later on it's revealed that the little girl was Dead All Along, assumingly during the terrible war of the royal triplets.
    • The Fourburg woods when Even is separated from Dicey. The whole adventure even takes it's toll on her after a dream of her sister pushing Lucky to her death, and wants to go home so badly.
    • Having to fight her own sister, in the Dark Dicemension is sad, especially since Odd had been corrupted by the mask given to her by the Queen herself, making her a darker version of herself who does her superior's bidding. It's even sadder when Odd mocks her little sister during their fight too.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: The combat system has gotten this from a number of players. Although the game has many motifs built around chance, the slow rate at which enemies approach you tends to make battles boring and tedious. That and the fact the protagonist's actual primary weapon, the slingshot, can mainly only stun enemies while gathering crystals from nearby sources and using the randomized cards/ powerups in one's deck is how one actually deals damage. This, however, tends to make the game frustrating to play, as, depending on the cards one has, what attack one actually will be able to perform is typically unreliable and unpredictable, seeing as attacks are effectively randomized.
