• Discredited Meme: Following 2013, you're more likely to find parodies and hatred towards LOLCats than you will the idea played straight. If they get mentioned at all anymore.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Lolrus. The Anteater.
• Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory: This article.
• Fountain of Memes: Name a meme (eg. All Your Base, O RLY?), and there will be a LOLCat about it.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: One of the more popular lolcats, Long Cat, is very similar to Gigantamax Meowth from Pokémon Sword and Shield. This brought some focus back to the decade-old meme.
• Memetic Badass: Bikecat.
• Older Than They Think: Harry Pointer took photographs of cats in weird situations and added captions to them in the 1870s. Harry Whittier Frees also did this in the early 20th century.
• Spiritual Predecessor: To r/dogelore, as both involve pictures of animals with funny captions, often depicted as doing human things, and have a recurring cast of characters that show up in many of these pictures.
