YMMV / Little Misfortune

Go To

  • Adorkable: Misfortune always acts incredibly chipper and incredibly cute.
    Misfortune: Good day, morning!
    Mr. Voice: It's afternoon, Misfortune.
Misfortune: Ah, ok. Good afternoon, morning!
    Mr. Voice: Uh...
  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • If the player manages to achieve the "Eternal Happiness" ending, Misfortune's mother will take off her mask, and smiles as she looks up at the sky. But why is she smiling? Is it because that now that Misfortune is dead, she's free from the burden of taking care of a child she never wanted? Or is she smiling because she's comforted with the knowledge that Misfortune is in a better place and is free from a toxic household that her parents gave her? Possibly a combination of both? Adding onto this, could she possibly be smiling because she knows her daughter still loved her even after all the neglect and abuse?
    • How much did Morgo/Mr. Voice really care about Misfortune? while he's overall very possessive and bossy, and later on is willing to harm her if she doesn't "play" with him anymore, he does act like a surrogate father figure to her throughout the story, sometimes allows her to have some fun without any real incentive, and seems genuinely worried when she's put in danger. The fact that he was obsessed with keeping her "alive" with his game seems to hint that his reasons for trying to keep her were out of some form of possessive, toxic affection.
  • Friendly Fandoms: With The Stanley Parable, as both feature a snarky, British, Interactive Narrator with ambiguous motives.
  • Iron Woobie: Misfortune's home life is absolutely miserable but she is very bright and cheerful despite it all.
  • Moment of Awesome: Misfortune gets one near the end when she finally gets fed up with the Narrator telling her what to do all the time and tells him to go away. Even when she sees what he looks like, she's not afraid to tell him what she thinks of him. It’s more awesome considering the home life she was born into.
  • Nausea Fuel: The vomiting and bathroom jokes can be a little much for a player with a weak stomach. Misfortune also eats candy off the ground at one point, and the art shows her eating cigarette butts and pills alongside it.
  • Nightmare Retardant: As scary as Morgo is, some fans think his true form is more silly than anything, and think he's much more intimidating as a disembodied voice.
  • The Un-Twist: That "Mr. Voice" is really the monster kidnapping children, Morgo. Misfortune seems to have caught on to this early on in the story, and can, depending on player choices, express her distrust of the character far in advance. Consequently, she reacts with very little surprise when she discovers the truth.
