YMMV / Let's Dub Project

Go To

  • Adorkable: Tyranee himself. His attempts at making jokes come off as awkward at best, but his commentary is just so adorable.
    • RedAsATomato really brings out Maya Fey's adorkableness, what with her cute voice and all.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: This joke video about the channel getting around to dub Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice "in five years," before stating "maybe" about dubbing it near the end can be this after the February 2021 announcement that the channel would no longer be able to continue dubbing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies and that there would be no Let's Dub-related projects afterwards. The announcement even came out almost five years after the joke video was posted.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: Kira Buckland voiced in numerous Ace Attorney fan works before, including this one as Sasha Buckler in Turnabout Reclaimed. She would later voice Trucy Wright in the Ace Attorney game that was released two years after Let's Dub's premiere of Turnabout Reclaimed, Spirit of Justice.
  • Growing the Beard: Between moving to the now ubiquitous standard of character improv in place of game commentary, and adding purely dramatic series like Saya no Uta, Presentable Liberty and Cartagra, the group has come a long way from being a much more gag-based channel.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Florent L'Belle is seen as one of the worst villain in the whole Ace Attorney series thanks to his dumb motivation, unappealing design, being very unlikable and for just being bland as the series's villains go. But LJ's brilliant voice work and improvisations ultimately turn L'Belle into a very entertaining character and the highlight of the chapter for many.note
  • Retroactive Recognition: Lily Emil Lammers (under the pseudonym of homulily) played Athena Cykes in the Let's Dub of Dual Destinies before landing professional roles like Ash in Fire Emblem Heroes and Dr. Young in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
  • Superlative Dubbing: This is what the group aims to do, and they arguably succeed. The reason for the re-dub of Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors was that they felt they could do better than they had the first time around.
    • The dub of Presentable Liberty stands as an odd but incredible example of this as well. Outside of the letters, there was very little to actually dub and in addition to those characters being note-perfect casting decisions, the actor playing the Prisoner had to do an hour and a half of dramatic improv, creating an entire story out of the intentionally obtuse background of the game.
    • In their dub of Kindred Spirits on the Roof, Yuna's actress emphasizes the heroine's Adorkable and Deadpan Snarker qualities in her narration. Considering how much narrating there is throughout the game, it's impressive that she keeps it up.
