• Awesome Music: In terms of music, the most famous one by far is the PC-Engine version's battle theme. It's a fast-paced, Eastern-sounding theme that incorporates the intro from Symphony No. 5, a snippet from Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" and the Chinese Riff.
• Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game: The gameplay is often considered Nintendo Hard, with lots of Level Grinding, but the unusual premise, characters and storyline are often considered high points.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • The very first scene in the game has a Skeleton and a Minotaur being shot to death by the alien leader in a Surprisingly Sudden Death. The Skeleton only gets his skull partially shattered bloodlessly, but the minotaur explodes into very graphic gore.
  • Several of the hybrid monster designs as well as several of the alien designs are either Body Horror, Eldritch Abomination, or even both. Some good examples of the monsters can be found here and some good examples of the aliens can be found here.
