YMMV / Laff-A-Lympics

  • Common Knowledge: One element from the What Could Have Been side that is often said but not true is that Hong Kong Phooey replaced Jeannie on this show. Phooey was added before Jeannie's removal provable by the fact both of them are in the model sheets and in a Freeze-Frame Bonus|es, Jeannie is standing right next to Phooey.
  • Designated Villain: The Rottens are designated as the villains for cheating, despite the Scooby Doobies and Yogi Yahooeys doing plenty of cheating themselves. However, the rail handcar race justified the Scoobies' cheating. Since the Rottens were using a jet rocket for their car and detoured a section of track for the Yogis (Doggie Daddy and Grape Ape, whom Blue Falcon allowed to go first) to burst through a rock, giving them an advantage, the judges ruled that Blue Falcon and Dynomutt could use their gadgets in the race.
    • A specific example in the episode "Spain and the Himalayas", during a contest to hang a bell on an abominable snowman. Daisy Mayhem (of the Rottens) rightfully earns her team a 50 point bonus, for placing her bell a millisecond before Blue Falcon. Only for the judges to take the bonus away, simple because she did it whilst Blue Falcon was "saving her" from said abominable snowman, accusing her of "poor sportsmanship". This is despite the fact that Mayhem did not ask for Falcon's help, and is definitely not obliged to let him score the bonus just because he did something she never asked him to do, no matter how good it was.
  • Moment of Awesome: At the end of the Keelboat race, the Great Fondoo shrinks Babu and Scooby-Dum. Babu responds by letting out a few Yapple Dapples which grow him and Scooby-Dum giant prompting the duo to race to the finish with Babu carrying their keelboat with Scooby-Dum carrying Cindy Bear and Wally Gator on their raft for Second place.
  • Special Effect Failure: In way too many episodes, the edges of the cels can be seen during character pans either way. Long cels would normally be used for such instances, but in the case of Laff-a-Lympics, it obviously wasn't so cost efficient as using the standard 10-field cels.
  • Strawman Has a Point: Issue 9 of the comic has a sheriff forced into mandatory retirement and his replacement refusing to allow him to help with a theft on the grounds that he's too old. Thing is the new sheriff isn't wrong as the theft happened because of the old one being overpowered by the thieves. The new sheriff was perhaps a little insensitive about the situation, but not bringing someone who has proven they can't handle such a problem is the only sensible solution. Not to mention that the old sheriff only manages to get involved in the case because of the new one getting trapped and only being freed if he allows the old one's involvement.
  • Woolseyism: The Hungarian dub did away with the confusing expy status of Dread Baron and Mumbly and straight-up called them Dick Dastardly and Muttley. The longstanding Hungarian Flintstones dubbing tradition of making the characters talk in rhymes was however averted — in this show, Fred and Barney speak like normal people.
