YMMV / Lab Rats: Elite Force

Go To

  • Arc Fatigue: One of the most criticized aspects of the show is how little focus the plot revolving around Roman and Riker there has been. The two were first introduced in the series premiere and were built up to be the big threat of the story. However, multiple standalone episodes took up the majority of Season 1, making fans lose interest in the main plot. It doesn't help that the two only physically reappeared in one episode and the series finale and that's pretty much it.
  • Broken Base: For a lot of fans, the show itself. On the Mighty Med side of things, there's not getting a proper ending outside a few sentences from Oliver that imply most of their supporting cast died and the awkward characterization of Kaz, Oliver, and Skylar that implied the writing staff only had the most basic knowledge of that show. Meanwhile, several Lab Rats characters, like Donald, Douglas, Perry, and Tasha made a few appearances on the show, the highly anticipated returns of Leo and Adam (presumably saved for special episodes) never materialized due to the show's short lifespan, and none of the Mighty Med cast returned besides Kaz, Oliver, and Skylar.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Roman and Riker have garnered a rather positive reception by most fans. The fact that they're portrayed by Booboo Stewart and Ryan Potter was considered a bonus in addition to including the Mighty Med cast.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Roman and Riker destroyed the Mighty Med hospital because of Kaz and Oliver forcing their dad to live a life as a Normo in order to save his life. Such an act has killed not only a number Kaz and Oliver's superhero friends, but perhaps many innocent patients and doctors in Mighty Med. Even Douglas didn't do this kind of damage when he blew up Donald's lab.
  • Replacement Scrappy: For fans who only watched Lab Rats, the Mighty Med side of the cast comes off as this, replacing fan favorite characters like Adam and Leo. It doesn't help Mighty Med was the less popular show, so it comes across as trying to make its characters more popular by riding on Lab Rats' coattails.
  • Ship Mates: Kaz/Chase and Bree/Skyler shippers tend to get along great, due to it getting the potential straight pairings out of the way, with most fanfics about the show being dedicated to both groups dating. These fans also tend to ship Oliver with Adam despite the two not interacting much.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: In Mighty Med's finale, Oliver's mother Bridget absorbed the Arcturion, gained numerous superpowers, smacked around two of the strongest superheroes in the show's canon like they were nothing, and escaped to continue her plans. Come the premiere of Elite Force, she is already locked up, having been defeated by Oliver, Kaz, and Skylar. Offscreen. And when the Arcturion returned as a plot point in "The Rock", it has returned to full power, meaning that they somehow managed to drain her of her powers as well.
    • On that note, the Arturicon plot would've worked better if Leo was part of the show. Being only partially bionic, they could've made a "wanting to have more powers to feel more important to the team" storyline work better with him than with Bree.
