  • Awesome Art: The minimalist style used on the videos is absolutely gorgeous, and it gets even better whenever it's used to depict anything in space.
  • Awesome Music: Now has its own page!
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: In the video on CRISPR there is a short clip of a penguin growing insect/fairy wings and flying off. Lampshaded in the fact the penguin says "I have nothing to do with this!"
  • Broken Base: Their science videos are generally well-received but audiences are divided any time they discuss their progressive and humanitarian viewpoints such as in their The European Refugee Crisis and Syria Explained video where they supported refugee immigration to help them escape war zones. The video was met with Creator Backlash and ended up being removed, possibly because of the sour reaction some people had.
  • Funny Moments:
    • Brown dwarfs are described as "failed stars that are a huge disappointment to their moms"
    • The Page quote on the main page about the sort of experiments they do in their labs.
    • They begin one episode by dropping a mouse, elephant, and dog off of a skyscraper "because it's a really rude thing to do".
    • The comparison of gold's density to ducks is shown through a chunk of gold having the same mass as 20 ducks crammed together in a box.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Kind of ironic since this is specifically about non Germans enjoying this. The German channel they have is much smaller than the English one, probably because more people can understand the latter.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In their video on CRISPR and malaria, they point out that the disease’s cells wrap themselves in the membranes of the cells they kill, saying “Imagine that! Killing someone from the inside then using their skin as camouflage. Brutal!” As a certain character from a horror game found out the hard way, curtesy of a mass of sentient wires.
  • Memetic Mutation: Bad for the stock market.explanation
  • Tearjerker: While a lot of their videos would be horrific if they happened in real life, they're generally silly and flippant enough to not notice. Not so What If We Nuked A City, which goes into terrifyingly sober detail about the humanitarian cost of a nuclear strike. Rather than big explosions we get a lot of shots of overwhelmed hospitals, survivors crawling through ruins, random people dying horribly and abruptly... It's every bit as bleak as depictions of such a terrible event should be.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: While Kurzgesagt's videos aren't specifically targeted towards children, most of their videos are very benign and are suitable for all ages. Most of the videos that don't fall into this category are pretty obvious from the title of the video and thumbnail alone (i.e. their videos on imagining apocalyptic scenarios). However, their ant colony videos are surprisingly benign despite talking about ants fighting and waging war against each-other... until you get to the video on Weaver Ants. Unlike their earlier videos which, at most, had Bloodless Carnage, this video cranks up the violence by showing bloody dismemberment and death when the ants fight each-other, with stunning detail.
