YMMV / Kull the Conqueror

Go To

  • Complete Monster: Akivasha, demon sorceress and former empress of Acheron, seduces Kull himself to gain access to the throne of Valusia. In an assassination plot on Kull, Akivasha takes a liking to him, only to order him tortured to death when he rejects her and frames the harem girl Zareta with intent to burn her alive for the "murder". Seizing the throne, Akivasha tries to have Kull and his friends killed while preparing to restore Acheron, annihilating Valusia and bringing about Hell on Earth. Viciously abusing her loyal servitor Enaros by frequently burning him for increasingly petty reasons, Akivasha agonizingly burns one of her rivals from the inside out when he opposes her, opting to later take her true demonic form and restore her bloody empire.
  • So Okay, It's Average: Kull the Conqueror is not good, it's not bad, it's not even laughably bad. It's basically just a longer episode of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys in all but name with an incredibly predictable barbarian fantasy plot. If anything, it just feels like a lot of wasted potential.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Karina Lombard plays Zareta, Kull's love interest, years before her breakout roles on The 4400 and The L Word.
  • Tear Jerker: At the Isle of Ice Kull, Taligaro captures Zareta just after she had obtained the Breath of Valka. He then viciously kicks the dog by mortally wounding Ascalante.
