- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: During the Final Boss battle with King Dedede, he is able to fire lightning from his hands. It was never explained how he was able to do that and he never uses this attack in any other games.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: The game's US commercial featured a claymated Kirby. Two decades later, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse features a game where Kirby and the world around him has a clay-like aesthetic.
- Memetic Mutation: ANON, GET OUT!Explanation
- Nintendo Hard: Kirby has very few lives, insanely hard difficulty, a limited save feature, and hard bosses. This is not an easy game, at all.
- Spiritual Successor: To Revenge of the 'Gator, the previous pinball game from HAL Laboratories.
- That One Boss: Whispy is surprisingly harder in this incarnation compared to the usual fights with him. He can release Gordos which will freeze your flippers, and blow air that will push Kirby straight down the middle.
