YMMV / Kipper

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: When Kipper goes over to Tiger's in "Clay Time", he hears Tiger grunting and groaning with splash sound-effects. It's shown shortly after that he's using his new pottery wheel, but for that short time, it sounds like he's doing something naughty.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment:
    • The parrot singing "Ring Around the Rosie" in "Echo, Echo!"
    • The appearance of a human baby in "The Butterfly." The baby was never established before this episode and is never even seen again after its scene.
  • Continuity Lock-Out: The show is self contained and can be watched in any order. But the only episodes that have continuity are "Pig's Cousin" and "The Mouse" as they introduce Arnold and Mouse.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • In one episode, Kipper meets a box-shaped robot who collects various Earth objects. Sound familiar?
    • "Arnold's Balloon Trip" features Arnold using a balloon to float up to a candy mountain in the clouds. An idea similar to this was almost used for Up.
  • Ho Yay: Kipper and Tiger are very close friends.
    • In "Buried Treasure", there’s a scene where Tiger turns around, only for his nose to meet Kipper’s.
  • Moe: A lot of characters, but especially the gosling and Arnold.
  • Narm Charm: In "The Rainbow Puddle", the magic frog is definitely being over-the-top about the elephant drinking his puddle, but he has a good reason why he's upset and Kipper understands why he's upset, which still makes it an effective Tear Jerker.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The scene with the dragon in "The Magic Lamp"
  • Sweet Dreams Fuel: Compared to other kids shows, Kipper is very calming. Combined with the soothing and adorable animation, it's very easy to have nice dreams about. The show was even marketed using the phrase "a refreshing pace for today's busy kids."
  • Tear Jerker:
    • The ending of "The Visitor." Kipper realizes the bird is a gosling and then sees a gaggle flying outside. He encourages the gosling to go fly with them, after giving him one last hug.
    • In "The Rainbow Puddle," after the elephant drinks the titular puddle, the magic frog begins crying because the puddle was the only way to get himself back home.
    • In "The Robot," the titular robot is collecting different Earth substances, primarily food. After Kipper shows off Hippo, the robot eats Hippo, which causes Kipper to beg for Hippo back. The robot then blasts off back to its home planet. Hippo does return, though.
      Kipper: Good-bye, Hippo. (tear falls)
