YMMV / King Of The Hill S 10 E 8 Business Is Picking Up

Go To

  • Broken Base: To many fans, this is one of the most polarizing episodes of the whole series, especially because of Hank's view towards the business Bobby is joining. Some view Hank as being in the right, while others disagree and view him as a Green-Eyed Monster.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: This is one of the most polarizing examples of Hank being a Fantasy-Forbidding Father to Bobby. As Bobby himself tells Hank, because it's not the almighty propane, Hank just has to find something wrong with it. He is not completely wrong about how Bobby would attract bullies with that job (if anything, Jimmy Wichard supplies a way too good example, to Sterling's distress), but it's a point that required Hank convincing Sterling to accept scaring Bobby off and the plan going too well for it to appear. He also arrived to Career Day with only one opening that he explicitly wanted Bobby to take, but when Joseph is the one who is interested Hank rejected him until he noticed the principal standing nearby which forced him to do a Verbal Backspace and take Joseph in.
