YMMV / Jack the Giant Killer

Go To

The 1962 film provides examples of:

  • Accidental Innuendo: The leprechaun imploring Jack to "seize the bone!" smacks of this.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Gaunt! Per Rifftrax everybody loves that bird.
  • Moment of Awesome: Admittedly, Jack killing Cormoran the Giant is done really well.
    • The giant reptilian Kraken coming to Jack and Elaine's rescue, managing to kill the two-headed giant via strangulation followed by a Dope Slap.
  • Special Effect Failure:
    • The Stop Motion creatures in particular, look more like Gumby than any Ray Harryhausen creature they were meant to copy.
    • That metal support thingy used to keep the "Kraken" puppet steady that the animators forgot to edit out of a frame or two. It appears for a moment and vanishes, but thanks to the jerky and choppy animation, it can plainly be spotted without the need of freeze-framing.
