• It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: From around the mid 2000s to the early 2010s, J.C. Staff was disliked by many Western anime fans due to a few of its shows having very similar main characters (Shana, Familiar of Zero, Toradora). This isn't as much an issue now, though.
• Tough Act to Follow: After the visual spectacle of a first season that was One-Punch Man from Madhouse, fans freaked after it was reported that the rights to the second season was sold to JC Staff. Needless to say, they had some big shoes to fill, and when the anime aired and the animation was unquestionably inferior to season one, the ire was rampant.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: A lot of their works have great animation such as Food Wars, Flying Witch, Prison School, Shakugan no Shana, Little Busters, Wixoss, and then some. Largely considered to be one of the best studios with great animation. Most likely due to how long they've been around.
