YMMV / JC Chasez

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight: Up to 2004, JC talked about how he was looking forward to recording new material with *NSYNC and reassured fans the band was not breaking up.
"It’ll be a fresh, exciting new record and a new look for us. We felt like if we did something again [without a break], it would just be the same thing all over again. And we don’t want to be stale.”
  • Mis-blamed: People not familiar with JC’s rocky journey of releasing Schizophrenic or what happened with Story of Kate tend to blame Chasez himself for the floundering of his own solo career, and posit Chasez’s music was too overtly sexual, or not cohesive or radio-friendly enough for solo success. JC’s fans are also blamed for supposedly not buying his music then. However, there was much going on behind the scenes, record label-wise, that essentially impeded JC’s prospects for solo success, including lack of promotional support and publicity from his own label, numerous delays of his album, and not having the final say over the choice of singles or to dictate the album art. Executive decisions such as these outweigh fans’ efforts to support an artist, especially in the pre-streaming and social media period of music.
