  • Archive Panic: The ITV Archive boasts over 250,000 hours, that amounts to a minimum of 28 years, worth of archived programmes and feature films.
  • Broken Base: Unifying the ITV brand to most of its regions. Some viewers like it to bring them into full circle, while others criticise it for deregionalising their regions.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • Yorkshire Television’s "On Ilkla Moor Baht'at" trumpet fanfare, which unsettled generations of young viewers.
    • The final moments of Southern Television — the usual "Southern Colour Production" endboard fades away to a shot of space with the Southern "star" logo superimposed. The star begins to spin around slowly, then rapidly, before it zooms out into the stars, with a haunting, echoed version of the Southern guitar jingle playing (one might note that the Jingle that Was playing this time is Longer then usual). The screen holds on the shot of space for a few more seconds, before fading to black. And that was it — no formal closedown announcement, no "God Save the Queen", nothing.note
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: So many of the companies' idents over the years, and many of the generic idents, have top-notch visual effects. Highlights include the countless variations of the Central "cake", the Anglia knight on horseback (an actual silver statue), and the mid-1980s Grampian Television "cube".
