  • High-Tier Scrappy: Marie, the French rapier user. Her rapier has an extremely long reach, quick stabs, and few tells to differentiate between high and low commitment attacks before it’s too late. Truth in Television for why the rapier became a preferred dueling weapon in real life. The developer even put out a video showing tactics for how to beat her. She’s a Glass Cannon in close range, but getting there is a real challenge, and the One-Hit Kill focus of gameplay greatly reduces the usual drawbacks of Long-Range Fighter characters like Marie.
    • The update that added blade binding (long guard as a very effective defense against thrust attacks) has nerfed this aspect of Marie considerably.
  • Low-Tier Letdown: Gedeon has slow opening attacks, limited reach (with his longest strikes being middle-ranged at best) and no option to dash forward giving him few tools to punish a whiff. His open stance while closing in leave him at the mercy of many characters - Kalkstein's forward thrusts, Lazslo's lunges, Marie and Isabella in general, etc. He also has a large profile (though the game tries to mitigate by giving him higher HP), and his damage is nothing to write home about either. In summary, Gedeon is difficult to learn and the payoff simply isn't there.
