YMMV / Hell of the Living Dead

Go To

  • Awesome Music: It may have been stolen from other movies, but people often remark that the best part of the film is its soundtrack.
    • The opening title, composed by Luis Bacalov, comes from an Italian Giallo called Diamanti Sporchi Di Sangue, or "Blood Diamond" in English. As of this date, the score from that film has not been released commerically.
    • The track used during London's attack on the terrorists is "Zombi (Originale)". It and the other prominent Dawn of the Dead (1978) track "L'alba dei morti viventi (Originale)" can be found on Goblin's soundtrack for the film. It should be noted however that Bruno Mattei claimed in interviews that the Goblin music was made available to him legally as he was a personal friend of the band's producer at the time.
    • The track "Connexion", from Contamination plays is found throughout the film, but prominently in the Mission scenes and over the final scene before the end credits. "Withy", from the same movie, plays during the team's drive to the beach, highlighting Zantoro's Sanity Slippage.
    • The end credits music is "Quiet Drops", from Buio Omega.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Zantoro is the most memorable character in the film, mainly for his being the only competent member of the cast, and because both his actor and dubber seem to have been born on The World of Ham.
  • Fridge Brilliance: After Zantoro is grabbed by the zombies and the elevator shuts, we hear his screams of pain and see a shower of blood coming down the shaft. Later, however, he shows up as one of the zombies that eats London and Lia. The zombies in this film are pretty thorough - If they start a meal, they finish it. The fact that he showed up more or less intact - minus the zombification - implies that he somehow managed to fight off all the zombies in that elevator, and only to succumbed to zombification on his way back to the group. Zantoro was just that badass.
  • Squick: The infected native village is arguably the most disgusting scene of the film.
  • The Woobie: Lia. She's always carried a gun, since she'd been attacked by a rapist, watched her friend's husband get eaten by his own son, finds her friend's corpse, has zombies picking on her frequently, and gets a particularly nasty death to boot.
