- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- Barack Obama became the first black president of the United States of America after this movie came out. Not only that, but given the year the film was released, it can be implied that the film's presidential election is the 2004 election; Obama was elected on the very next one, in 2008.
- In the climactic portion of the movie, Gilliam got to picking up civilians with his tour bus to get them to voting precincts. Fast forward nearly two decades later, various grassroots organizations such as the "Black Votes Matter" Movement have been instrumental in a similar manner, getting more people to cast their votes, and in the process propelling Obama's former Vice-President and Democrat candidate Joe Biden into the Presidency.
- Values Resonance: Almost two decades later, the "That ain't right" speech is even more applicable.
