  • Catharsis Factor:
    • Considering the Grand Elder of the village has been shown yelling and even beating Chika throughout the film, seeing him get shot by one of the poachers was seen as satisfying.
    • Subsequently, seeing the Snowman kill the poacher for shooting his son was seen as perfect justice.
  • Narm: The monster’s roar, which sounds more like an upset stomach then a yeti roar.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: Discussion about the film is more about the depiction of the films villagers and its status as being the rarest Toho film to find then the actual content of the film itself.
  • So Okay, It's Average: From those who have viewed the film, it’s often seen as a decent monster movie with great music and effects, but is otherwise a standard Sasquatch film.
  • Special Effects Failure: The shot of the Snowman picking up the poacher that killed his son is clearly the actor superimposed onto the Snowman’s hands.
  • Tear Jerker: The Snowman mourning the death of his son, especially considering the little beast was only trying to help free his father from the poachers.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: The Snowman itself, which many credit as being a convincing yeti-esque monster.
  • The Woobie:
    • Poor Chika gets abused by the village elder for saving an innocent life, and is then accused of being the cause of the Snowman’s anger (which she technically is, but she didn't realize she'd led the poachers to his lair). And she still dies in the end.
    • The Snowman and his child. They're the Last of Their Kind, and want to just live a peaceful, quiet life, alone in the mountains... and then these idiots come barging in, leading to the Snowman being forced to see his child killed in front of him. While the Snowman does kidnap Machiko with the intention of forcing her to bear his child, this is presented not as malice but as an act of desperation by a creature determined to stave off extinction. Ultimately, he too dies, shot after he surrenders Machiko back to the researchers.
