- Adorkable: Nakamura is a shy boy who struggles to talk to Hirose and embarrasses himself a lot throughout the story, but it all makes him an endearing character.
- Awesome Art: Syundei's Retraux art style is a great way to modernize the 80's manga aesthetic. While it retains the shape and feel of the decade's character design, it uses modern techniques to make it look much cleaner than what the 80s would permit.
- Memetic Mutation: A common trend is for fanartists to redraw the first series' cover art for the manga with their favourite ships from other works, such as this one
