Alstroemeria Record's icon, based on the actual Alstroemeria flower.

Alstroemeria Records is one of the more prominent long-running doujin circles alongside IOSYS. Most of their music is remixes of music from the Touhou Project series, but they've also released some original albums, one of which uses Vocaloid. They mostly specialize in Electronic Music of varying types, ranging from Electro House, Trance, Dubstep, and the occasional Trap. They're best known for their remix of "Bad Apple!!", which is their most popular remix to date, and has since spawned numerous re-releases and renditions (including this very famous fan-made video).

Their primary members currently consist of five people; head composer and arranger Masayoshi Minoshima, vocalists Ayame and Mican*, main lyricist Haruka, and dual vocalist and lyricist Mei Ayakura (who's been on the scene since ULTRA DANCEHALL). In addition, they also feature guest composers and singers from various other circles from time to time.

Like with other doujin circles, Alstroemeria Records primarily releases their albums at Comiket and Reitaisai conventions, usually in limited copies.

Their main website can be viewed here.

Tropes associated with Alstroemeria Records:

  • all lowercase letters: The album titles against, perfect cherry blossom., trace|phantasmagoria, genealogy|shrinemaiden, stem of radiant, of memories, lumière ambrée: and μοναξιά.
  • Electronic Music: Pretty much their forte. They like to mix in a lot of genres to keep their albums varied, such as Electro House, Dubstep, Trance, and sometimes Trap Music.
  • Floral Theme Naming: The name of their circle and the design of their icon is derived from the Alstroemeria flower; a Peruvian lily that is mostly native to South America. One of their albums is even named "Lily of the Incas'', a reference to the nickname that the flowers are sometimes called by.
  • Gratuitous English: Many Japanese singers featured in the albums try their hand on mixing in English lyrics with the music at least once.
  • Rearrange the Song: They make a career of arranging various Touhou Project themes much like other circles, often taking so much creative liberties with their remixes that you would easily mistake some of them for original songs if you don't listen hard enough.
  • Remix Album:
    • Most of their albums consist mostly or entirely of arrangements of Touhou themes.
    • The regret of stars, but stars shine bright features arrangements of themes from Alice Soft and Key Visual Novels.
    • Their 10th Anniversary Bad Apple!! albums contain various remixes of "Bad Apple!!".
  • Sampling: Main composer Masayoshi Minoshima likes to do this a lot with his arranges, often mixing in random quips from various media sources (Japanese or not) with the music. For example, in DOMINATED DANCEHALL, the first song "EXTRA LOVE" contains a skit from the 1961 sci-fi movie Battle of the Worlds.
