YMMV / Flagged for Content

Go To

  • Awesome Art:
    • The flag representing the podcast has a very cool and appealing design that is unique and stands out to the eye.
    • The Keystone Flag, created by special guest Tara Stark and discussed in Episode 15, has an amazing design that both has deep symbolic meaning and is visually striking. Many want this flag to become the new flag of Pennsylvania because its design is so cool and way better than the current flag.
    • The Fog and Gold Flag by guest Brian Stokle has a distinct and cool design that is a vast improvement over San Francisco's current flag while using similar symbolism.
  • Broken Base:
    • Is the flag of Maryland good or bad? It is one of the most divisive flags in all of vexillology and has similarly divided fans of the podcast. Andy hates the flag for being overly complex, but many fans of the podcast love the design for its uniqueness.
    • California has another base breaking flag. Its design is beloved by many, but others dislike it due to it breaking flag rules with its use of text. The show's guests have split opinions on the flag, and Andy sees the flag as an enigma due to simultaneously breaking flag rules and being popular, and that most redesigns fail to improve the design.
    • Alaska's flag is base breaking among both viewers and guests of the show. Bradley Lockhart loves the flag due to its creative and visually appealing design, while Frédéric Lindboe hates it for the stars being too small and disconnected, making it hard to see from a distance.
    • As a question that Andy asks his guests is what their most overrated flag is, this often leads to disagreements among listeners, as the flags are often well liked ones such as Chicago and Japan.
    • Minnesota’s new flag, which was revealed in December, has garnered very mixed responses from viewers and guests of the podcast. A special episode is a roundtable discussing this flag, where the returning guests discuss their opinions on it. Andy and some of the other participants dislike it, but other participants liked the flag. Opinions within the roundtable were pretty evenly split.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Of the flags that have appeared on the show, the Keystone Flag is one of the most beloved by the fandom due to its great design and for being designed by special guest and major fan of the podcast Tara Stark.
  • Fandom Rivalry: The podcast and Andy have received opposition from the "Restore Utah's Flag" group, a movement that seeks to remove Utah's new flag and restore it's former flag for supposedly being "woke" and "canceling" Utah's history. Andy is outspoken in support of progressive causes and supports the new flag of Utah, leading to him getting into various arguments with its members.
  • Friendly Fandoms:
    • Many fans of the podcast are also fans of Flags For Good, a flag company that also makes videos on TikTok and YouTube. Flagged For Content is an official Flags For Good podcast, and the owner of the business has appeared in multiple episodes.
    • The podcast also shares a lot of fans with Flagsession, a YouTube channel that similarly makes videos about flags, as well as the podcast A Kiwi, Two Brits, and a Yank that they are part of. Flagsession has been a guest on the podcast, and Flagged For Content crossed over with A Kiwi, Two Brits, and a Yank in Episode 40.
    • Flags in Focus is another YouTube channel that focuses on flags, and its host Tareth has appeared on the podcast multiple times. Due to their similar focuses and Tareth's multiple appearances, they share many fans. Tareth is also part of the podcast A Kiwi, Two Brits, and a Yank.
    • Listeners are often fans of the Keystone Flag, a redesigned flag of Pennsylvania created by Tara Stark. Tara has appeared on the podcast and is an avid listener, and Andy has promoted this flag, which has become very popular among the podcast's listeners. Many fans also watch Tara's Twitch streams where she plays video games.
    • Many fans use the website Flags of the World, which is the internet's largest database of flags. One of its editors Zachary Harden appears as a guest in Episode 33.
    • Some viewers of the podcast also follow the flag tournament Tumblr account Flag Wars. The Flag for Content appeared as a competitor in the People's Flag Wars and some other polls, and the account has promoted the podcast multiple times. The host of the account eventually appeared on the podcast.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The video where Andy flies the Soviet flag is especially popular with Russians. The video received 30 thousand views, the most of any video on the channel, and most of the comments are in Russian.
  • Growing the Beard: Many fans believe that the podcast improved in quality with the introduction of new segments such as the quiz and the discussion of guests' favorite, most overrated, and most underrated flags, as well as including video and images of flags on the YouTube version of the podcast.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • In episode 31, Frédéric Lindboe states that he hates the flag of Alaska and says it is overrated, due to hating the use of constellations in flags and arguing that it is too hard to see while flying. In the very next episode, Bradley Lockhart says that the flag of Alaska is his favorite. These two contrasting opinions appeared right after each other without any connection.
    • In the first episode, Andy says that he only collects the flags of places he has visited. By the later episodes, Andy has a massive flag collection that includes many places he hasn't been to.
    • In Episode 4, Andy mentions not being personally familiar with Flagsession. They would later become recurring guests on the podcast.
    • In Episode 5, Andy brings up Flags For Good and states that he is not being paid to advertise it. The podcast would later become an official Flags For Good podcast.
    • In Episode 14, Michael Green states that he is pessimistic towards the Utah flag redesign process and thinks that it will not turn out well. When the new flag of Utah was chosen, the design ended up being influenced by a proposal by Michael and he loved the new design.
  • More Popular Replacement: The original logo for the podcast had the show's title over a photo of various physical flags, but the later logo was an original flag created to represent the podcast and became much more beloved by listeners for its cool design.
