- Captain Obvious Reveal: It's not hard to figure out that Al's adoptive father is working with the villains, especially since the final volume adds him to the recap section even though he hasn't been relevant for a long time.
- Creepy Awesome: The manga's rendition of the Flux spell. (Which is merely the lowest-level Dark tome in the game itself.)
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Original Generation characters Jemmie and Zeed are rather popular, even among the manga's detractors. And to say nothing of Narcian.
- Fridge Horror: The manga goes into new territory after Zephiel's defeat, so what happened to Idunn? She's briefly mentioned, but what are the implications for the world with her as The Unfought?
- Hilarious in Hindsight: This wouldn't be the last time the series would star a half-human half-dragon protagonist.
- Memetic Loser: Zelot, for his only appearance in the manga being getting Worf'd by Murdock. He shows up for a panel, gets taken out in one hit, Roy yells "Sir Zelot!"... and he's never seen or mentioned again.
- Memetic Mutation: Narcian's over-the-top facial expressions◊, to the point where they became an Ascended Meme in Cipher◊ and Heroes.
- Just Here for Godzilla: A good number of fans read the manga only for the game characters.
- The Scrappy: Despite being the main character, Al is not popular at all and even people who enjoy the manga can't stand him. It's bad enough that he's seen as one of the most painfully stereotypical Shōnen protagonists you could think of, who isn't just annoying but also doesn't fit in with the rest of the series at all, but what really makes people despise him is the fact that he upstages Roy in his own story, which to many feels like something out of a bad self-insert fanfiction. How much his backstory as the half-dragon son of Hartmut messes with the established lore of the Elibe games doesn't do him any favors, either.
- Values Dissonance: The fan translation has Tiena calling Al "Retarded" in the third chapter, a word that has long since been considered an offensive slur.
