YMMV / Fairy Fencer F

Go To

  • Awesome Music:
    • "Full Contact," the first Fairize theme, will get you pumped up with the transformation sequence.
    • "Resonant World" and "Senko Refrain", the openings for the original Fairy Fencer F and the remake respectively, are insane poppers. Especially once "Senko Refrain" got a full version, after eight whole years!
    • Refrain Chord goes further with the amazing music. What's better than 12 great songs divided evenly between the two Divas? Having said Divas sing their songs simultaneously, with the dominant one keeping the accompanying instrumentation. This gives a total of 72 possible combinations.
  • Complete Monster:
    • Bernard, in the original version, is a cold and deceptive man with dark plans to summon the Vile God. One of Dorfa's Heavenly Czars, Bernard leads the group's many hostile takeovers, terrorizing to gather all the Furies and gain absolute power. However, Bernard has his own scheme, using the group to collect the Furies for himself to then summon the Vile God for its power since, as a descendant of the God, he can inherit it. To this end, Bernard deceives Dorfa and drives Sherman to madness as a pawn to usurp Dorfa in another timeline. With Sherman's help, Bernard manage to resurrect the Vile God before trying to sacrifice him to attain full power, only for it to backfire horribly when Sherman double-crosses him first.
    • Zenke of the Heavenly Czars is the psycho of the group, a bloodthirsty murderer who invaded Solaru Village and formed a death system for the people. Every day, Zenke would pair villagers in an Involuntary Battle to the Death, pitting loved ones where if they refused, Zenke would execute both. Zenke has done this so often that he has mountains of corpses, including women and children. Kidnapping Tiara, Zenke forces Fang to fight in a gauntlet for his entertainment, without any real intent in keeping his end, trying to execute Fang at the end. In the second timeline, Zenke was no different; losing against Fang again, Zenke kills off his own fairy partner, and tries to kill Fang after pretending to seek redemption. Even in the Evil Goddess route, Zenke starts off sympathetic before reverting to his former self, turning even more psychotic. No matter what timeline Fang and Eryn enter, Zenke still remains the irredeemable killer that he truly is.
  • Difficulty Spike: The Evil Goddess route is balanced for New Game Plus bonuses, as shown by how the very first boss of the route is the Vile God himself. Not only is the player required to win this time, the Vile God has Final Boss tier stats by the standards of the other routes. Justified because carrying over fairies is required to pull out more than 16 furies in the first timeline. Afterwards, the enemies are balanced for level 60+ parties.
  • Gamebreaker: The Launcher weapon for all characters that get it. It's a gatling gun. High damage, high hits, high accuracy, and is strong against everything. Not only will the Tension Gauge fill pretty much instantly, but you'll trigger lots of Avalanche Attacks.
  • It's Easy, So It Sucks!: Some of the complaints people have with the original game is that it is too easy for a Compile Heart game. Advent Dark Force addresses this with the Hell and DLC difficulty of Extreme which amps up the difficulty of the game considerably requiring players to grind and apply strategy more to survive the story. Enemies in both difficulties will hit much harder than usual and in most cases if one just tries to run through the game, one will find their party being 1 hit KO very often.
  • Player Punch:
    • Galdo turning evil and sadistic in the Vile God route is hard to stomach due to his kindness and loyalty in the Goddess route. Even more so when he's fatally wounded by Bernard and begins to vaguely remember the first timeline.
    • If the player started with the Vile God route instead and got attached to Sherman, they're treated to him losing his sanity in the Goddess Route and becoming a disposable pawn in the Evil Goddess route.
  • Polished Port: The PC version for both the original and Advent Dark Force, on top of updated graphics, 1080p support, and support for 60+ FPS, the game now properly shows keyboard commands, while previously the PC version of Neptunia games only show XBOX gamepad commands.note
  • Superlative Dubbing: The English cast is widely considered more exaggerated and expressive than the somewhat straightlaced Japanese track. Eryn in particular voiced by Erica Mendez has been praised for the her cuteness and energetic delivery.
  • That One Achievement: The 100 Million Gold trophy. When the maximum amount you get in this game from the highest level boss is only 16,000 gold per fight (not including items you could obtain from rewards at the arena), you're in for a rough time. Advent Dark Force makes it easier by only requiring 5 million Gold.
  • That One Attack: Some bosses have a move which they will start using when under half health, these attacks tend to be vastly more powerful then the rest of their moves and can easily wipe out multiple party members even if their other attacks weren't giving you trouble.
