  • Complacent Gaming Syndrome: The Fire Stingray is by and large the most commonly-used machine. Not only does it have the highest top speed in the game, but it also has the best traction. It does suffer a penalty to its cornering radius once it reaches its top speed, but that can be easily avoided with the "blast turn" technique (repeatedly tapping the accelerator when rounding a corner). And while it does have poor acceleration to counterbalance its high top speed, many Fire Stingray users use a combination of a rocket start and a bump from the opponent next to them to negate that. About the only time you won't see the Fire Stingray be used is for machine-specific competitions and as a Self-Imposed Challenge.
  • Goddamned Bats: Those obnoxious brown "bumper" cars that simulate backmarker racers and mainly start appearing when you're in first place. They will do their best to impede you and knock you out of first.
  • Low-Tier Letdown: Golden Fox is easily the worst of the four playable machines. It's meant to be a Difficult, but Awesome vehicle due to its sharp cornering and fast acceleration with the lowest top speed and traction of the four as a counterbalance, but it ends up being Awesome, but Impractical, being too difficult to handle, and once it reaches and maintains its top speed, it has absolutely nothing else going for it. While there are techniques to gracefully round corners without spinning out, its low top speed still makes it nearly impossible to win races at higher difficulties due to CPU machines having higher top speeds. As a result, it's treated as a "hard mode" machine that one only really uses once they've gotten to grips with the other three. Of course, this only applies when the player is driving the Golden Fox. A Master-difficulty CPU opponent driving the Golden Fox goes as fast as the Fire Stingray.
  • Nintendo Hard: Because of the complicated vehicle physics, Rank Out system, and cheating AI, completing the Grand Prix on higher difficulties is not easy. Rivals are quick to catch up when you made a mistake, which can mean a failure in the final lap.
