YMMV / Dragon Ball: The Path to Power

• Awesome Art: Thanks to the bigger budget, the animation of this film is some of the smoothest in Dragon Ball history, ironically being the exact same used in the divisive Dragon Ball GT which suffered a lot from stiff animation.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Goku powers up with a blue aura at one point. Cue Super Saiyan Blue...
• Narm: The Speedy dub has a lot of this owing to its poor quality. The moment when Goku's about to blast Staff Officer Black after he kills and disses Eighter takes the cake in hilarity:
  Goku: Not rubbish! Not rubbish! You are the rubbish! YOU ARE THE RUBBBBBIIISSHHHHHH! TORTOISE POWAH AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
• Signature Scene: Goku's Angry Kamehameha against Staff Officer Black.
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Certain fans were unhappy with the Dragon Ball GT influences, namely Goku's outfit and the GT opening theme being used as the end credits theme instead of Dragon Ball's ending theme, Romantic Ageru Yo. This is more on the principle of the thing, though, as Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku is still seen as a pretty good song in its own right.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: While he never appears in this movie, some fans are disappointed that this adaptation of the saga didn't include Dr. Gero from Dragon Ball Z, as not only was he the creator of the Android line, the downfall of the Army due to Goku was the reason he started the Cell saga. Granted, it would've been a bit too much as this was already cramped up trying to add elements from the start of the series, but considering this was made after Z when the Cell Saga was already finished, you can see why.
