YMMV / Dracula Has Risen from the Grave

Go To

  • Complete Monster: Dracula. See that page for details.
  • Retroactive Recognition:
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
    • The debate between secularism and religion, express through Paul, the Monsignor, and the Priest, could have been an interesting discussion and even bring in new themes not usually seen in films, let alone supernatural ones. Instead, the film flat out states that religion is the only way, as Paul's atheism and the Priest's lack of faith are the reasons the stake couldn't kill Dracula since you need to recite the rites while doing so, an element only invented for this film. And the Priest regains his faith, defeats Dracula by reciting them while he's been staked and Paul becomes a believer, undercutting the themes the film brings up in the first half.
    • Zena (who steals every scene she's in) becomes a vampire the second time Dracula bites her. This could have led to a great subplot, but Dracula immediately orders the priest to destroy her body.
