YMMV / Doctor Who S35 E5 "The Girl Who Died"

• Ass Pull: The Vikings turn out to have entire vats of electric eels just lying around, despite being on the wrong side of the world, and never thought to mention their dangerous magic lightning fish.
• Base-Breaking Character: Ashildr. Either she's one of the most compelling recurring characters in the revival series over the course of her Story Arc (which lasts through "Hell Bent") or a sloppily-written waste of Maisie Williams. (Some base repair occurs in later episodes as the character matures.)
• Just Here for Godzilla: Maisie Williams is a big draw.
• Narm: The Doctor translating baby language is played seriously.
• Special Effect Failure: It's obvious that the production team weren't allowed to set up any actual fires near the replica Viking huts, resulting in some obviously fake stock footage fires pasted onto the aftermath of the Doctor's attempt to train the villagers in combat.
• Spoiled by the Format: The villagers won, the Mire have fled, and the Doctor has blackmailed them into staying gone. It's over, right? Except there's still ten minutes left in the episode, so *something* is going to happen...
