YMMV / Doctor Who S31 E6 "The Vampires of Venice"

  • Retroactive Recognition: Penny Dreadful becomes even more fun when you realize that Helen McCrory (Rosanna) and Alex Price (Francesco) played, respectively, a Satan-worshipping witch and Frankenstein's Monster.
  • Why Would Anyone Take Her Back?: Amy Pond skips out on fiancee, childhood friend, and all-around Nice Guy Rory to gallivant around the universe with a dashing young (looking) Gallifreyan. Granted, it's in a time machine, so she should have no trouble making it back in time, so that's not TOO bad... until she kisses and attempts to seduce the Doctor. Worse still, having the whole of time and space at her fingertips to decide when and where to do it, she picks her room, on the night before her wedding, ten feet from her wedding dress. Even this alone wouldn't be quite enough to qualify for this trope— relationships can survive infidelity— but Rory has to hear about it from the Doctor, and she never apologizes or takes any responsibility for her attempted dalliance. When confronted, her response is along the lines of, "Well, we never really did anything." Right... because the Doctor rejected her, not for lack of trying on her part. Rory expresses understandable concern about the lack of loyalty his prospective wife displays, but being the Extreme Doormat that he is, nothing ever comes of it, and the whole incident is seldom mentioned again. On the other hand, one could make a good argument that the whole incident with the Saturnynians trying to drain her fluids is her karmic comeuppance for it, though others may still have an issue with it. The Meanwhile in the Tardis short intended to fix this by suggesting that Amy was riding high on the joy of surviving the incident with the Angels too, as well as believing that the Doctor had been making advances on her. Though, it still leaves it very glaring that she never apologizes to Rory or makes a proper explanation for her actions.
    • After the season finale it's also worth noting that this was Amy with large parts of her memory making no sense due to the time crack in her bedroom, likely affecting her personality in unpredictable ways. Notably she never once attempts to cheat on Rory after her history is restored...except when she tried to kiss the Doctor during her wedding.
    • It's also worth noting that in some episodes the Doctor seems to ask Rory permission to hug Amy, suggesting that while things are more or less ok both Amy and the Doctor acknowledge that a line was crossed and want to make sure he feels comfortable with the situation.
