YMMV / Dimensional Links

Go To

  • Crazy Is Cool: Lore is easily the most prominent example, but pretty much all of the Links qualify at one point or another. Except maybe Dusk, who's plenty awesome but not particularly crazy - or at least, not obviously.
  • Creepy Awesome:
    • Majora is one of the creepiest and one of the most awesome villains.
    • On the heroic side, Oni a.k.a. the Fierce Deity, who establishes his bona fides by curbstomping Majora.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Dusk is arguably the most popular of the Links, due to his levelheadedness, badassery, and Team Mom tendencies. Even the author has admitted to needing to remind themselves not to give Dusk too much of the spotlight.
    • Lore is also well-liked due to his sheer insanity.
  • Funny Moments:
    • Any time Lore fights a boss. Especially when he starts talking.
    • "I like trains."
    • In the rewrite's Chapter 11, when Sketch starts questioning his own abilities thanks to Wind asking how that's possible, the Fourth Wall begins to crack slightly. Naryu, Din and Farore respond to the questioning of Nintendo logic by rerouting Red, Green, Blue, Vio, Dusk, Steam and Realm from the portal they were using (where they would have met up with Lore) to get to Sketch and Wind's island, thus fixing the Fourth Wall and leaving the goddesses very relieved and the Links none the wiser.
  • Memetic Loser: Zant is this In-Universe. His mental instability (spectacularly exaggerated and Played for Laughs) make him a bit of a punching bag for the rest of the villains. Most of the Links also see him as this, except for Dusk, who knows not to underestimate the guy. The Chapter 27 rewrite makes it a point that Zant was still a key part in why Hyrule was covered in Twilight, that he's actually quite intelligent, exceptionally powerful, and downright terrifying when he focuses - as Twilight Ganondorf notes, while it's a trial to get him to focus, once he does, the results are spectacular.
  • Moment of Awesome: Plenty, from heroes and villains alike.
    • On the villains' side, Demise. The first fight in the fic results in Demise delivering a Curb-Stomp Battle to the Links, largely because they (and the three goddesses) weren't prepared for him to have all the powers of every Zelda villain ever. The Links only escape because Farore decides to intervene directly to help them, which makes her and her sisters targets of Demise.
      • Ganondorf (all three incarnations) also put up pretty impressive fights. Among the villains, they stand out by being powerful without being insane or dumb. Their battles end up being even longer and more difficult than the ones in canon.
      • Past Ganon, Onox, and Veran team up very effectively and nearly succeed in killing the Links, until Past Ganon pushes Dusk's Berserk Button.
    • On the heroes' side, the Links get their own back pretty quickly after their loss to Demise, finishing off each boss in more spectacular fashion than the last. Special mention goes to:
      • Dusk oneshotting Past Ganon.
      • Wind and Vaati duelling with their weather manipulation powers. They basically end up throwing hurricanes at each other.
