YMMV / Digimon Adventure tri. Abridged

  • Awesome Ego: Izzy, as noted by Homeostasis.
  • Awesome Music: The fancover of "Kids in America" set to "Butterfly's" melody. Best of both worlds!
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • TK's hipster persona in Episode 1 and 2? In Episode 3, TK reveals that it is a coping mechanism to deflect the impact of his constant losses in life. It's already foreshadowed since in the earlier episodes, it crumples whenever his parents' divorce is brought up.
    • Greymon's statement to Kuwagamon about getting his ones off his zeroes becomes foreshadowing when in Confession, it's revealed that the infection works by messing up the Digimon's binary code into an unrecognizable mess and his own infection later on.
    • In the real Symbiosis, Maki indeed has a gun. And she's not afraid to wield it in the worst of her insanity.
    • In Episode 1, Meicoomon's hypnotizing of Hikari is played for laughs(?) cue Symbiosis where Hikari goes through a Despair Event Horizon at Tai's Disney Death and got possessed by Meicoomon's 3rd form. This results in her causing Nyaromon to warp dark-digivolve into Ophanimon Falldown Mode and it's merger with Meicoomon's 3rd form to destroy the human world.
    • Distant Starlight has Daigo be the human partner for Baihumon whose predecessor form is LoaderLeomon. In Our Future, the trait is seemingly passed on to their human partners as Daigo pulls off a Heroic Sacrifice for Tai.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Remember the very fact that the episodes of this abridged series is written within a month after each of the actual movies. Turning many of the one-off gags into foreshadowing for the actual series is no small feat all by itself.
      • Meikuumon being evil in the first episode. Revealed to be true in the 2nd movie.
      • Maki Himekawa having a hidden agenda. Revealed to be sort of true in the 2nd movie.
      • Everything Hackmon/Huckmon says are always under the lines of "All according to plan" in episode one and two. Guess what was his voice debut line in the 3rd movie.
      • Homeostasis being evil. Sorta true as of the 4th movie.
      • As of the 6th movie, it seems to be inverted.
      • Maki's closing monologue at the end of episode 2, although it's just author's headcanons at that time becomes this when it was revealed in Loss that she was one of the digidestined that sealed away the Dark Masters at the cost of her partner. Not to mention, in episode 3 she also knows about Homeostasis even before the canon reveal in Loss.
      • Daigo's rant about going to the Digital World and finding himself a Digimon becomes hilarious when in Loss it's revealed he had his own Partner Digimon in his youth. His hatred of Tai also becomes this as it seems he was also the goggle-headed leader of his team.
      • Joe worrying about the return of the Dark Masters. The 4th movie proves him right to worried. Though like with the case of BlackImperialdramon, it's ambiguous whether or not these are the real Dark Masters, as the corruption that created them shouldn't exist anymore (as it didn't originate in the digital world, and thus shouldn't have been restored with the reboot), and they're controlled like puppets, when previously they were largely independent.
      • During Cindy's message to humanity, she states that it's time for the end of the Human and Digital World's symbiosis. Symbiosis would be revealed to be the title for the 5th movie in June 2017.
      • Maki's telling about the DigiGates being able to lead to any world "even the gross monochrome ones" in Episode 3. She ends wandering right into said "gross monochrome" world aka the Dark Ocean in her walk of insanity after finding out that Tapirmon doesn't remember her during the events of Symbiosis.
    • In here, Izzy is a CEO that rules the modern world in an iron fist. Jump forward to the events of Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, in where the short "To Sora" reveals that Izzy did become a CEO while handling the digimon communities living in the human world.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: When Greymon is losing, Tai states that he could use a whistle about now. At the end of Confession, how did the Digidestined reunite with their partners? Hearing Tokomon's whistle blowing.
  • Misblamed: Tentomon's Verbal Tic of "buzz" has annoyed some viewers and made it look a gag invented just for this. Word of God states that it's actually a carryover from the English Dub.
  • The Woobie:
    • Parodied with Meiko. Played straight(?) in Episode 3.
    • Mimi, Joe and Gomamon in episode 2, each in a different way.
