Digi-Destined

    Taichi "Tai" Yagami
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/taichi_yagami_by_indominus1_dbklytv.jpg
Voiced by: Logan Laidlaw

The "fearless leader" of the Digi-Destined.

  • Big Eater: If his huge appetite isn't enough, he also outright says that he's the kind of guy who "eats other people's food".
  • Catchphrase: "Go Dinosaur Crazy!"
  • The Ditz: Not as much as Mimi, but he has his moments.
  • In-Series Nickname: Sora gave him the title "fearless leader" in Adventure episode 2, and it's still stuck 6 years later.

    Yamato "Matt" Ishida
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yamato_ishida_by_indominus1_dbkoplt.jpg
Voiced by: Aaron Robert Parnell

Tai's friend who's either fighting with him or agreeing with him.

  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Zigzagged, his parents' divorce really had an impact on him...
  • Ineffectual Loner: Matt has a habit of going off to deal with his problems on his own, and it tends to not work out for him.
  • The Lancer: If Tai isn't calling the shots, Matt will take up the leader role.
  • Official Couple: With Sora as of 02.

    Sora Takenouchi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sora_takenouchi_by_indominus1_dbkpurr.jpg
Voiced by: Ama Bennington

The self-appointed mother figure of the group.

  • Butt-Monkey: Not completely, but Izzy seems to dislike her immensely.
  • Genki Girl
  • Official Couple: With Matt as of 02.
  • Shipper on Deck: Is absolutely thrilled when Meiko reveals that she has a crush on Tai.
Sora: Girl, do you KNOW my Crest?!
  • Team Mom: She fills the role for the entire team, but especially towards Piyomon.

    Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/koushiro_izumi_by_indominus1_dbktvft.jpg
"I AM IZZY!!"
Voiced by: Logan Laidlaw

The boy genius of the group.

  • Ax-Crazy: He's not exactly "all there"...
  • Evil Overlord: He claims to be the Shadow Dictator of America, though he admits to it being a technicality at best when Mimi gets curious.
  • Happily Adopted: He actually seems to think it makes him inherently superior.
  • Insufferable Genius: Most of the time, he kind of lords his status as a genius in everyone else's faces.
  • Love Makes You Stupid: Parodied, his genius IQ seems to go down several points when Mimi talks to him.
  • Ship Tease: With Mimi.
  • The Smart Guy: Exaggerated. Izzy goes from "Genius Hacker" to "Hacker Overlord".
  • Token Evil Teammate: Though he's mostly benevolent, Izzy has a habit of threatening people in colorful, legal ways, has gained his funds from starting wars and seizing assets, and considers killing Meiko when Mimi starts paying too much attention to her.
  • With Friends Like These...: Despite supposedly being part of a large group of friends, he really doesn't seem to like Sora very much.

    Mimi Tachikawa
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mimi_tachikawa_by_indominus1_dbl5l3c.jpg
"I. AM. THE LOUDEST!!!"
Voiced by: Ariel Hansen

A somewhat ditzy and loud girl.

    Joe Kido
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/joe_kido_by_indominus1_dblx5gv.jpg
Voiced by: Evan Moyer

The oldest of the group who tries to be the responsible one.

  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Through the first episodes of the prequel, he repeatedly claims that the Digital World must be some madman's theme park with dangerous animatronics. He later admits that this was just to cover up how scared he was.
  • Only Sane Man: Tries to be this throughout the entire adventure; the group eventually starts listening to him when he puts his foot down.

    Takeru "T.K." Takaishi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/takeru_takaishi_by_indominus1_dbl5ldy.jpg
Voiced by: Ken Tynan (older), Lindsay Navarro (younger)

The "baby" of the original seven and Matt's younger brother.

  • Innocent Prodigy: His main character trait in the prequel, where he's a cute kid who likes spouting science trivia.
  • Only Sane Man: Seems to share this role with Joe... to an extent.
  • Running Gag: In Tri, TK adopts random personalities and exaggerates the hell out of them. He stops after Episode 3.

    Hikari "Kari" Yagami
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hikari_yagami_by_indominus1_dbl5l7f.jpg
Voiced by: Treychel Anderson

Tai's younger sister who joined the Digi-Destined after they were already formed.

Mimi's partner.

Palmon's Evolutions:
  • Fresh: Yuramon
  • In-Training: Tanemon
  • Rookie: Palmon (Default)
  • Champion: Togemon
  • Ultimate: Lilimon
  • Mega: Rosemon

  • Adaptational Wimp: Her Chapion form gets a massive downgrade, even her enemies treat her a an annoyance rather than a threat.
  • The Load: Her Champion form is treated as this by the rest of the group.
  • Ms. Fanservice: As Lilimon and Rosemon. Izzy even Lampshades it:
Izzy: "Mimi, I think you may have just given me my new favorite Digimon..."

    Gomamon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/evolution_line___gomamon_by_indominus1_dbkll3d.jpg
"Do you wanna be Super Fish Friends?"
Voiced by: Mimi Mimoa (Gomamon, Pukamon), Malcolm Stead (Ikkakumon, Zudomon, Vikemon)

Joe's "Super Fish Friend."

Gomamon's Evolutions:
  • Fresh: Pitchmon
  • In-Training: Pukamon
  • Rookie: Gomamon (Default)
  • Champion: Ikkakumon
  • Ultimate: Zudomon
  • Mega: Vikemon

  • Adaptational Wimp: Downplayed in the prequel series—in the original Digimon Adventure, he managed to trip Kuwagamon by rolling under him; here, he's just rolling because he feels like it and is the only one who doesn't even seem to be trying to fight Kuwagamon.
  • The Cutie: He's very sweet and generally has the personality of a small child
  • Genki Girl: He sure has the personality of one, what with his boundless energy and excessive peppiness.

    Patamon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/evolution_line___patamon_by_indominus1_dbklnx7.jpg
"Salvation lies at the crossroads between destruction and desecration!"
Voiced by: Ariel Hansen (Patamon, Tokomon), Norman Leavoy (Angemon, HolyAngemon, Seraphimon)

T.K.'s partner who might be...a little scary.

Patamon's Evolutions:
  • Fresh: Poyomon
  • In-Training: Tokomon
  • Rookie: Patamon (Default)
  • Champion: Angemon
  • Ultimate: MagnaAngemon/HolyAngemon
  • Mega: Seraphimon

  • Ax-Crazy: Mainly as Tokomon and Patamon.
  • Blood Knight: He's always up for smiting sinners in God's name.
  • Establishing Character Moment: His first lines of dialogue tell us all we need to know about him.
Tokomon: (after finding Tai, Izzy, and Sora) Overlord T.K.! I hunted down the gross monsters that you told me to! Should I grant them sweet death?!
  • Gold and White Are Divine: As Angemon, MagnaAngemon/HolyAngemon, and Seraphimon.
  • Knight Templar: No matter the form, he's pretty eager to destroy all evil in the world in the most bloodthirsty way.

    Gatomon/Tailmon

Kari's partner.

Gatomon/Tailmon's Evolutions:
  • Fresh: YukimiBotamon

  • Rookie: Salamon
  • Champion: Gatomon/Tailmon (Default)
  • Ultimate: Angewomon
  • Mega: Magnadramon
    • Mega (Corrupt): Ofanimon: Falldown Mode

Others (Tri)

    Mei Mochizuki
Voiced by: Lindsay Navarro

A really shy girl who transfers to Tai's high school class and is quickly inducted into the Digi-Destined.

  • Nerds Are Sexy: Mimi certainly thinks so, especially when Meiko puts on the cheerleader outfit.
  • Shrinking Violet: She's a little too shy to function without some social help.

    Meicoomon
Voiced by: Ama Bennington (all forms)

Meiko's cat-like Digimon.

Meicoomon's Evolutions
  • Champion: Meicoomon (Default)
    • Champion (Corrupt): Meicoomon Vicious Mode
  • Ultimate (Corrupt): Meicrackmon Vicious Mode
  • Mega (Corrupt): Raguelmon

  • Ambiguously Evil: Kari finds her suspicious at first, and then Meicoomon gets less ambiguous about it during Episode 2.
  • Ambiguous Gender: The first two episodes make several jokes about how no one is sure whether Meicoomon is a boy or a girl. Meiko even refers to her as "she/he/it" at one point
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: She's able to manhandle Greymon and Ikkakumon as Meicoomon, who is the size of a housecat. The human-sized Meicrackmon can wrestle with multiple Champion level Digimon, and Angewomon, at the same time.
  • Typhoid Mary: She's the one spreading the infection, though it's unintentional for her uncorrupted state.

    Daigo Nishijima
Voiced by: Logan Laidlaw (older), Matthew Kok (younger)

Tai's teacher who does not appear to like his job very much.

  • Apathetic Teacher: He claims his soul died years ago and can't work up the energy to feel emotions.
  • Only Sane Man: Even though Maki seemed saner at first, it turns out Daigo is the only one of his coworkers who can rub two brain cells together.

    Maki Himekawa
Voiced by: Lindsay Navarro

Daigo's ex-girlfriend and a government agent keeping track of the Digi-Destined

  • Manipulative Bitch: Unlike canon, the Digidestined don't take this lying down, though they have to let it slide because Maki has a better legal standing than they do.
  • Sanity Slippage: She gets Bakumon back... and it doesn't remember her. After everything she pulled for that reunion, Maki loses what bit of rationality she had left.

    Huckmon
Voiced by: Logan Laidlaw

A Digimon watching the events surrounding Meicoomon from behind the scenes. He is also the Royal Knight Jesmon.

  • Hero Killer: Inverted. His conversation with Daigo implies that he, as Jesmon, has been preemptively eliminating the early villains in the rebooted Digital World like Devimon, Etemon and Vamdemon. Especially Etemon.
  • Insistent Terminology: Huckmon very much wants you to know that it is Huckmon and not Hackmon.

    Newer Digi-Destined

A group of younger Digi-Destined T.K. and Kari joined back in 02, they consist of Davis, Yolei, Ken, and Cody.

  • Put on a Bus: For all of Tri. No one in the main group really cares, even though Alphamon might have killed them all.

Others (Adventure)

    Pyokomon Village
Voiced by: Treychel Anderson (Pyokomons), Logan Laidlaw (Pyokomon Elder), Mackenzie Murdock (Meramon)

A village full of Pyokomon protected by the fiery Meramon.

Pyokomon

Meramon

    Andromon
Voiced by: Bren MacDonald

A robot Digimon that serves as a tour guide for a factory.

    Toy Town
Voiced by: Al Dales (Monzaemon), Kenneth Tynan (Numemons), Aaron Robert Parnell (President Numemon)

A town consisting of almost nothing but toys.

  • Expy: Monzaemon's voice and mannerisms are identical to Hachi from Bleach (S) Abridged by the same group. He's a creepy Gentle Giant who wants to make friends with the heroes but they find him terribly offputting despite the words and actions he takes being technically pleasant.

    Leomeow
Voiced by: Al Dales

A Champion-level feline Digimon formerly known as a Leomon.

  • Catchphrase: "NOT AGAIN!". First when Devimon forces him under his control, and a second time when he's killed again.

    Ogremon
Voiced by: Logan Laidlaw

Leomon's eternal rival who apparently wants to be the evil overlord of File Island.

  • Friendly Enemy / Friendly Rivalry: Despite referring to him as his "hated rival", the two of them are surprisingly civil when not sparring, outright complimenting each-other on their techniques.

Villains (Tri)

    Alphamon
Voiced by: Logan Laidlaw

A mysterious Royal Knight Digimon that tries to obtain Meicoomon.

  • The Juggernaut: It takes WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon to even stagger him, and nothing short of Omegamon, Jesmon, or Raguelmon will last very long in a fight against him.
  • Knight Templar: His main motivation is upholding the law. The problem is, humans and most Digimon don't know anything about the law, except that it apparently warrants Alphamon showing up and wrecking everyone's shit, which they don't take kindly to.
  • Smug Super: Attacks from lower level Digimon just irritate or amuse him.

    "Ken Ichijouji"
Voiced by: Logan Laidlaw ("Digimon Emperor"), Mackenzie Murdock (Gennai)

Previously a member of the newer Digi-Destined, he seems to have gone back to his previous role as the evil Digimon Emperor. Or has he...?

Villains (Adventure)

    Devimon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/358.jpg
I'm not Satan, Green man, I'm "Satan-like". The "like" is important, I think...
Voiced by: Jesse Inocalla

A Satan-like Digimon who uses the power of darkness and his Black Gears to turn other Digimon of File Island into his minions.

  • Big Bad: Of the first Arc.
  • Creepily Long Arms:
  • Obliviously Evil: He claims that his methods are done solely to protect File Island from outside threats. However he doesn't seem to understand the fact that using his black gears to forcibly control other Digimon against their will and trying to kill seven children is wrong. Even when it's pointed out to him.
  • Obviously Evil: Although he'll tell you otherwise.
  • Satan
  • Underestimating Badassery: Downplayed. He breaks up File Island with the intent of going across the Digital World and bringing back extremely powerful Digimon to form an army to fend off the Dark Masters... ignoring the fact that the Dark Masters are a group of Mega-level Digimon and the highest level achievable by most Digimon is Ultimate.
