YMMV / Death at a Funeral

Go To

  • Awesome Moments: Daniel's impromptu eulogy at the end that he uses to halt a fight, where he acknowledges his father's faults, points out that despite his various issues he was still a wonderful and good-hearted person, and implores the people there that they should follow his father's example and be better people instead of getting caught up in their own selfish problems. It manages to stun everyone to enraptured silence and even Robert later admits to Daniel that he feels his brother could become a great writer as well.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: (in the 2010 film) Jeff said the hallucinogenic pills he cooked up are "for a friend." Aaron sarcastically rejoins, "What friend, Amy Winehouse?" Then Aaron asks Jeff if the pills could be fatal if the user exceeds the recommended dose, and Jeff says no, of course not... "maybe." Winehouse died of a drug overdose in 2011, a year after the film's release.
  • Retroactive Recognition: While Peter Dinklage and Peter Vaughan were both well-established actors before this film, just three years later, Tyrion Lannister and Maester Aemon became much more recognizable, particularly in America.
