- Demonic Spiders: Shield Jackals. They relentlessly pursue you, stab you to death when they catch up, their shields not only block but also deflect shots which can potentially ricochet back toward you, and the recommended way to damage them is the spinkick which is a death sentence if mistimed. In co-op, one player can at least kite them around while the other attacks from another angle.
- Good Bad Bugs: In version 1 of the mod, there was a bug where "Keyes" was skipped. Not only was the mission hard, but because Captain Keyes accidentally killed himself in "343 Guilty Spark" due to the cutscene scripting, many players joked that there was no need to do it because Chief knew he was dead.
- Scrappy Weapon: Though the mod has a lot of intentionally impractical or comical weapons, the Upside Down Magnum is disliked because of the Interface Screw and Damn You, Muscle Memory! nature of the weapon making them annoying and frustrating to the point of being tedious, especially if you start with it and have to somehow swap it out. It doesn't help that equipping it also screws with the other player in co-op.
