YMMV / Crackdown 3

Go To

  • Annoying Video Game Helper: The nonstop chatter from Director Goodwin and Echo can get really obnoxious at times, like when you're barely surviving a heated battle and Goodwin contacts you to tell you that you getting shot, or when you're in the middle of one of the frustrating propaganda tower climbs and Echo calls to remind you for the five billionth time that red force fields will cause damage if you touch them.
  • Fridge Horror: Before the first scripted lockdown sequence, TerraNova's president Niemand contacts you and exposits that she was one of the major bankrollers behind the three gangs in the first game, that she survived the gangs' destruction, and went on to start TerraNova. Now... who else helped bankroll the three gangs, and is known for fostering crime so that they can defeat it and look like the hero? That's right. The Agency may very well have been behind TerraNova too!
  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: The game has been derided for not adding much new to the Crackdown formula. Considering the advancements that had been made in open-world games since the first two, it was seen as a black mark on the game.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Some are interested just because Terry Crews is starring in the game.
  • Never Live It Down: The game's numerous delays since its 2014 announcement are unlikely to be forgotten, especially since the game became more known for the delays than its merit at certain points. The fact that said delays only resulted in a So Okay, It's Average game did not help.
  • Sequelitis: It managed to have worse AI and even more terrible physics engine than the precedessor.
  • So Okay, It's Average: Upon the game's final release, said it was this at best. It's playable, but that's really what it has going for it.
  • That One Achievement: A few candidates are available, ranging from ones that demand completion of the Collection Sidequest that is finding all the Hidden Orbs and Agility Orbs ("Orb Master" and "Orb Hunter", respectively), to completely neutralizing every enemy asset ("Justice Has Been Served"note ), to getting a gold medal in all of the driving races ("Road Rockstar"). However, while these all could theoretically be done with time, patience, thorough searching, and in the latter's case, some highly skilled driving, there is one that stands out in the way that you only have one shot at it during a single world: "Lockdown Legend", which requires you to survive Niemand's final city lockdown. This particular scripted lockdown triggers after all the bosses before her except one have been defeated. This one is the lockdown that is most likely to kill you on any difficulty, even with a maxed-out Agent, and if you do die here and still want this achievement, you will need to start a new world and defeat the same amount of bosses all over again.
