YMMV / Corruption Expanded

Go To

  • Fashion-Victim Villain: Evil Daddy Dearest's pink suit is viewed to be too ridiculous to take seriously. The suit looking like a Palette Swap of the Corruption can make Daddy Dearest look like a fool, despite being taken seriously in his fight against Tabi.
  • Fridge Brilliance: When looking at the title for "EVIL Pico vs Ruvyzvat DAY 2!", viewers may notice on closer inspection that the title doesn't say "Corrupt Ruvyzvat" right after the first battle. The reason the word "Corrupt" isn't used is most likely because Ruv's corrupted hat is off his body and he mostly looks uncorrupted.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: "Rebellion", after Pico attempts to encourage Ruv to give him a Mercy Kill, his evil self declares that not even that can save him. Turns out that claim was right, as most of the corrupted Tankmen that show up in canon at the end of Week 10 are deceased.
  • Iron Woobie: Ruv is a loyal friend of Sarvente and is determined to save her from the Corruption. In Week 2, he gets a distress from Sarvente prompting him to rescue her before it's too late. Throughout the entire week, Ruv plows through the many obstacles Evil Pico has thrown at him and refuses to go down until he has Sarvente save. Unfortunately, all of Ruv's efforts all go down to the dirt from the revelation that Sarvente had already fallen to the Corruption. Despite the grim situation, Ruv continues forward his mission to uncorrupt Sarvente, but even that gets foiled by Evil Mommy Mearest. As Ruv's failures come crashing down on him with the Corruption rapidly spreading on his body, Pico briefly breaks free of his corruption to beg to be killed. Ruv makes one last attempt to fulfill Pico's wish but ultimately fails, ending Ruv's entire journey as a Downer Ending for him.
  • Nightmare Retardant: Due to Evil Daddy Dearest for being a Fashion-Victim Villain over his Palette Swap pink suit, it can be a bit hard to take him as a terrifying threat in his Feet-First Introduction in the cutscene for "Last Agony".
  • Too Cool to Live:
    • Daddy Dearest is one of the first characters that chronologically appears, due to this mod taking place after his week. His awesomeness is showcased by how he is the only one capable of taking on an entire army of corrupt victims and remain unscathed of the Corruption for the majority of the battle in "Deathmatch". He unfortunately meets his end, because of his corrupted daughter and wife coming over to break his heart, which leads into the Corruption of Daddy Dearest.
    • In Week 2, Ruv appears to be the most awesome character amongst all the other survivors who have made their introduction. His strength is proven to be great by how he is capable of keeping up on battling Evil Pico, while running at high speeds at the same time. For "Rebellion", more of Ruv's coolness is further shown by how his own power alone is enough to take on both Evil Sarvente and Evil Pico as a Duel Boss. Ruv gets so close to achieving his victory against them, but is ruined by Evil Mommy Mearest. Yet despite Ruv's attempts to save Sarvente being foiled, he is still strong enough to continue fighting for a couple of minutes, just so an attempt could be made for Evil Pico to die. Sadly, for Ruv, he was only a Decoy Protagonist in the end, as he gets corrupted by the end of his week and the focused is soon switched back to the remaining characters still surviving.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome:
    • Week 2 introduces amazing special effects that highlight the dangers of Ruv having to plow his way through the fight against Evil Pico.
      • Whenever Ruv or his corrupted opponents begin rapping at high speeds, their visual appearance temporarily creates echoes of their bodies at the height of their power.
      • Ruv entering the tunnels in "Presledovanila" to create a flashing effect as he battles on Evil Pico.
      • The addition of rainfall in "Presledovanila", "Intermission" and "Rebellion" escalates the desperation of the survivors and the Corruption growing stronger to overpower its victims.
      • Lights are flashing in beat in "Rebellion" to be in sync with the drops of the song, once Ruv finally arrives at the church and is met by Evil Sarvente.
      • The screen becoming a darker hue the moment Ruv is disoriented from the constant turn switching of Evil Sarvente and Evil Mommy Mearest.
      • A lot more visual effects are shown in Ruv's weakest state from the static screen being created in his Heroic Resolve and the screen getting blurrier, upon unleashing his Spam Attack.
    • Since Week 2 and onwards, the animation for the cutscenes continues to improve from the efforts of the creators. The animation itself becomes less static and is more fluent as episodes of the mod are uploaded.
