• Catharsis Factor: Pierce Riding the Bomb to take out his dad's One-Winged Angel avatar and save Gilbert. Then he allows Gilbert to deliver the final blow and win the inheritance, which Gilbert does with muted pleasure. Pierce has wanted to show his dad up, and he finally got to do it. He also says sincerely to Gilbert that he got a brother out of this, and always wanted one.
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • During the Final Battle, Troy and Abed do their "singing their names while doing something" Running Gag, in this instance "shooting lava". Troy's final episode has Abed seeing Lava due to his mental breakdown over his best friend leaving.
  • For those in the know, the tag was supposed to be something else but Chevy refused to act out the scene. This became the breaking point and caused the infamous dispute between Chase and Harmon.
• Heartwarming in Hindsight: This episode becomes this in light of when Gilbert reveals he feels like Desperately Seeking A Purpose In Life, and that's why he moved into Pierce's mansion to start taking care of him. Pierce reassures him he doesn't need to hide to do that. We also know that while Pierce died, he had a good relationship with his brother at least.
• Jerkass Woobie: Gilbert Lawson. He is willing to cheat and screw over Pierce so that he can steal his inheritance, but Cornelius, his father, refuses to give him the inheritance out of racism.
• Spoiled by the Format: There's about ten minutes left when Gilbert struts into the castle to claim the inheritance. Viewers know that something's up before Cornelius attacks Gilbert for refusing to sign the agreement.
