- Angst? What Angst?: Davey and Kim go through stuff that would freak out a normal child yet go on about their day afterwards without a problem. Kim is threatened with death by being dangled off a cliff, yet after their escape from the villains is speaking calmly about what to do next. Davey kills a man - something that is pretty big, even in self defense - yet moves on quickly, more concerned with his imaginary friend. Davey is stuck in a trunk with a dead body TWICE but still seems to be okay.
- Unintentional Period Piece:
- The plot is rooted in Cold War espionage and early 1980s video game technology. You can also spot early editions of Dungeons & Dragons at the Game Keeper shop.
- While the fashion is pretty inoffensive overall, one of the villains wears a sweatsuit to do all of his thug work, which looks pretty silly to modern eyes.
- A car phone was a known, recognizable thing - but kind of rare - in 1983.
- Retroactive Recognition: Louie Anderson plays a cab driver before he made it big.
- What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: You'd expect that a PG spy caper starring two children keeping a video game away from villains would be a lot more kid-friendly, but this film features quite a bit of murder. The kid hero is even stuffed into a car trunk with a corpse. Twice.
