YMMV / Clicker Heroes

Go To

  • Fanon: Yachiyl is the Reincarnation of Cid.
  • Funny Moments: The Flavor Text for Dogcog, an ancient that decreases the cost for hiring and leveling heroes, reads as follows: "Your heroes unanimously voice a great amount of displeasure at the notion that you might use this ancient."
  • Low-Tier Letdown: Xyliqil is supposed to provide Idle bonuses to your ancients but many players, even those who primarily played Idle, looked down on it due to the exponential cost to level it up along with the fact that the ancient does not progress as much as the other outsiders particularly due to the fact that by late game, Idle gameplay eventually falls behind in contrast to Active gameplay, not even benefiting those who prefer timelapsing through the zones as it only adds an additional 1.9 zones for each level.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Solomon Heroes. Explanation
    • Also, whenever someone posts their Ancient levels, someone will usually chip in with "Your Solomon is underleveled!" no matter how high the level is. Again, this is now doubly hilarious since Solomon was removed from the game.
  • Scrappy Mechanic:
    • You can't just choose whatever Ancient you want. Instead you get a choice between four picked at random, and if none of them appeal to you, then you must spend several of your precious Hero Souls (the price of which increases the more Ancients you have, by the way) to reroll your choices. And it's pseudo-random too, which means if you try saving and importing, it will reroll in the same pattern everytime.
    • Likewise, Gilding a hero used to be random, until for the rather high price of 80 Hero Souls where one could un-gild and gild a specific hero in mind.
    • Sometimes a bee will fly slowly across the top of the screen, and when clicked 50 times, activates a random powerup for free. Doesn't sound bad, unless you're using an idle playstyle, in which the bonus is rendered useless if it chooses Lucky Stikes, Golden Clicks, or Super Clicks. Worse yet, if it chooses Clickstorm, it takes you out of idle status. And if it chooses Energise or Reload, it defaults to Clickstorm.
    • The very fact that mercenaries could die during missions. Not only do they either cost your valuable Rubies (sometimes up to thousands) to revive them or bury them, but it also means that you essentially wasted all your levels and investments banked on a particular mercenary considering that it takes days to essentially level it up to 11 only for it to abruptly die.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!:
    • Update 0.25 changed the death mechanics of Mercenaries, so that instead of death being chance based on the quest that's chosen, they're on limited lifespans instead so they'll eventually die regardless. While most people dislike the change, it was presumably changed as the original system could be cheated to avoid deaths, especially when using a third-party calculator.
    • Patch 1.0e10 removed Solomon from the game and buffed Ponyboy to replace his function. The one memetic Ancient which people leveled up to get more Hero Souls was removed from the game. Needless to say, there was much outcry.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: Octotentacle, the boss of Zone 140. It has far more HP than all the previous foes so far, and is often referred to as the game's first "wall". This boss is meant to show that the player must ascend several times so that they'll be able to rack up Hero Souls and Ancients until eventually they'll allow the player to get past it and reach further zones.
