YMMV / Charmed S3E12 Wrestling With Demons

Go To

  • Complete Monster: Kellman is the Source's chosen ruler of the demonic academy. A former human, Kellman gleefully sold his soul to become a demon and now tricks and manipulates others into doing the same. Finding troubled athletes, Kellman subjects them to nightmarish training where death awaits failure. For each graduate, the final step into demonhood is the murder of an innocent, often a loved one, as seen when he tries to force Prue's ex-boyfriend Tom into murdering his own mother, with a vast legacy of successful Demons for the Source's army behind him. When bested, Kellman attempts to murder Tom's mother himself out of sheer spite.
  • Do Not Do This Cool Thing: The returning of lost things spell seems like it would be fun to use, even if it results in a lot of useless clutter coming back along with the important things.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Booker T and Scott Steiner playing team mates as they fight the Charmed Ones was ironic at the time, since they were rivals in WCW. But in the late 2000s, they'd become stable mates in TNA as part of the Main Event Mafia.
  • Never Live It Down: Prue's attitude towards Tom in this episode - going to extreme lengths to save him even when he's actively working with evil (and only reconsidering at the very last moment) - is often held up as the height of her hypocrisy by her detractors. Especially when it's paralleled with Cole, who was already trying to make a Heel–Face Turn, even though Prue had no idea he was even still alive until this episode and had understandable reasons to be suspicious of him.
  • WTH, Costuming Department?: When Phoebe's brown hair magically returns, it's several shades darker than how she had it in the first two seasons and it doesn't even look natural on Alyssa Milano. Season 4 would show Phoebe's child self as having naturally dark hair, suggesting the lighter brown in Seasons 1-2 was her dyeing it (even if that was actually Alyssa's natural colour).
