War of the Green Lanterns is a 2011 comic book storyline published by DC Comics. The storyline is a Bat Family Crossover for the Green Lantern franchise, spanning Green Lantern #63-67, Green Lantern Corps #58-60, and Green Lantern Emerald Warriors #8-10.

After Krona manages to brainwash the Green Lantern Corp, the human Green Lanterns (Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner), must band together with the few remaining allies they have to stop him from taking over the universe.

War of the Green Lanterns provides examples of:

  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Averted, as it is revealed that the Manhunters didn't go bad at all, but were reprogrammed by Krona to commit the massacre.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Ganthet's tenure as self-appointed Green Lantern of Sector 0 ends when his ring-bearing hand is destroyed.
  • Big Bad: Krona causes the war by placing Parrallax's fear energy in the main battery, poisoning the GL corps.
  • Earth-Shattering Kaboom: John kills Mogo, the sentient planet, in order to stop Krona from using him to recruit any more mindless soldiers to his army.
  • Fandom Nod: Kyle finally puts on a blue ring, and Ganthet takes a moment to tell Kyle what a bad idea that was. (He's not too happy with John, Hal, or Guy's choices either.)
  • Godzilla Threshold: With basically every other member of the Corps having fallen under Krona's control due to Parallax infecting the main battery, Hal, John, Guy and Kyle's only available weapons are the rings of Sinestro, Carol, Atrocitus, Walker, Larfleeze and Indigo-1, requiring them to join the Sinestro Corps, Indigo Tribe, Red Lantern and Blue Lantern Corps respectively and basically hope for the best.
  • Lotus-Eater Machine: Lyssa Drak imprisons Sinestro in his own memories of his time as a Green Lantern.
  • Mind Rape: Done to Ganthet by the other Guardians to rid him of his emotions and personality.
  • Monkey Morality Pose: Hal Jordan creates constructs of three Guardians where one covers his mouth, one his eyes and one his ears.
  • Wham Episode: Fallen Guardian Krona re-corrupts the central battery with Parallax, turning the entire Lantern Corps (Save Ganthet & the 4 human Lanterns) into his slaves, and infecting the Guardians with the other emotional entities; John kills Mogo to stop anymore brainwashed Lanterns being recruited, which leads to Sinestro losing his yellow ring and rejoining the Green Lantern Corps, whilst Hal kills Krona (Which shouldn't be possible due to the Guardians using failsafes to prevent the Lanterns from turning on them) to free the other Guardians, who dismiss him from the Corps to protect themselves in case he went rogue.
  • Wham Line: "Thaal Sinestro of Korugar. You have the ability to overcome great fear. You have been chosen. Welcome to the Green Lantern Corps."
  • Yin-Yang Bomb: Guy Gardner manages to wield a red ring and a violet ring together, the two colors at the farthest extremes of the Emotional Spectrum. They represent rage and love, making this the most strongly opposing ring pairing. Guy himself was having difficulty using the paired rings, until he found something he could focus his love and rage on at once: he loved the Green Lantern Corps, and he was enraged at it being destroyed.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Bynai Bruun inexplicably appears restored to being an organic being among crowd shots of the Green Lanterns.
