• Fridge Logic: Aurora has legal documents proving that Irene stole her money, and is fully aware of it, but never acts on it.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Aurora, the Cinderella who ends up marrying a prince, is played by Vanessa Hessler, who was in a controversial relationship with Mutassim Gaddafi.
• Unintentionally Sympathetic:
  • We're probably supposed to think Ms. Cooper cutting off ties with her daughter was some unforgivable sin, as even Aurora wants nothing to do with her when she learns the truth. Given that we don't know the full story, for all we know Aurora's mother could have cut ties with her after running off to Italy with Valerio and, by all accounts, she didn't initially know Aurora even existed. Especially odd given that Aurora knows what an Evil Matriarch really looks like...at her worst, Ms. Cooper is still a saint compared to Irene.
  • We're probably supposed to hate Tina, but she seems to be someone in the wrong place and time. The only villainous thing she does, beyond spending Sebastian's money, is assume someone like Aurora is working at a shoe store instead of being a customer. On the other hand, her father implies her "spoiled rich girl" act really is just an act...but she really doesn't show evidence of this being true, either.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic:
  • Sebastian is an adulterer who cheats on his fiancee, only notices Aurora once she is dolled up for the ball, and abandons her after believing Irene's lies, when she needed him the most. The fact that he only comes crawling back to Aurora after she's reconciled with her grandmother and has become an accomplished musician, as opposed to when she could have used his help against Irene really isn't helping his case. Also, he smokes. It gets really weird when even Tina's father sticks up for him after he leaves his daughter at the altar.
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best is in full force with Valerio, despite him being stupid enough to fall for Irene's tricks AND vindictive enough to not tell Aurora's maternal family about her existence, leaving poor Aurora to the mercy of her Wicked Stepmother upon his death. His only saving grace is having the foresight to leave the poor girl a trust fund for music school.
